The Colorado Rockies<\/a> have not been at their best over the last handful of years. They haven’t had a winning record since the 2018 season, the last time they were in the postseason.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They have had a hard time signing any big-name free agents, and no pitcher wants to pitch half of their games at Coors Field. That altitude is not a pitcher’s friend at all.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It has made the club focus on its farm system, with a big focus on starting pitchers. And one of those names is already showcasing elite stuff in the bullpen.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Rockies’ bullpen is thriving despite a massive early-season workload<\/p>\n

Chase Dollander is someone the front office is excited about. He was selected ninth overall by the Rockies in the 2023 MLB Draft.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He had a cup of coffee in the big leagues last year and is starting the season in the bullpen. He is playing a big role, but he is not the only bullpen arm that is carrying the torch.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The entire bullpen in Colorado has been nearly lights out to start the year. That is despite being used a ton so far.\u00a0<\/p>\n

That alone is a reason that Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter<\/a> ranks them 24th overall in his latest power rankings.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“There are 15 teams with a worse ERA than the Rockies right now, and the bullpen has been downright stout with a 2.91 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 43.1 innings, the third highest reliever workload in baseball. This isn’t suddenly going to be a playoff team, but they might not lose 100 games for the first time since 2022. That’s something!”<\/p>\n

Now, making the postseason is a tough ask, but improvement is all that the fans can ask for. There are still a few pieces away from being someone that the rest of the NL West will want to pay attention to.\u00a0<\/p>\n
