As stated by the MTA:

Some lucky fans who departed from Grand Central–42 St turned back the clock aboard New York City Transit’s legendary 1917 IRT Lo-V Nostalgia Train for a line drive directly up to Yankee Stadium.

Photo Credit: MTAEven Former Yankee Players Rode The Nostalgia Train

You never know who you might bump into on the nostalgia train heading to the Bronx. More than just a bunch of rowdy fans (many who played hooky from work on Friday) and even some former Yankees players joined in on the fun. They too wanted to hang out with fans and experience the thrill of the day, and the ride.

I can tell you that there’s no way i’d be able to keep my cool if I was on the Subway and turned around to see CC Sabathia or Dellin Betances on the train. NYC Transit President Crichlow seemed pretty excited about the two former Yankees riding the train…

We’re thrilled that two Yankees legends, CC Sabathia and Dellin Betances joined us to continue this tradition of getting fans to the game on our vintage train fleet. All season long New Yorkers can depend on New York City Transit to get them to the game at Yankee Stadium safely and efficiently.

You can check out more photo and video coverage from Opening Day and the nostalgia rides by visiting the MTA site, here.

Batter Up!
