Milwaukee Brewers left-handed pitcher Jared Koenig, 32, a fourth-year MLBer out of Aptos, was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday with a left UCL sprain.<\/p>\n
The move was made retroactive to Sunday.<\/p>\n
The injury is \u201ca big concern,\u201d Brewers manager Pat Murphy told mlb.com.<\/p>\n
The Brewers recalled LHP Shane Drohan from Nashville Sounds to replace Koenig.<\/p>\n
The most serious case of a UCL injury requires Tommy John surgery and a year of rehabilitation.<\/p>\n
According to Murphy, Koenig will initially try treatment. In the best-case scenario, Koenig could return to action in two to four weeks. It\u2019s likely that Koenig will exercise his right to a second opinion, Murphy told MLB.com.<\/p>\n
Koenig appeared in three games this season, spanning 2 1\/3 innings. He gave up three hits, two walks, two unearned runs, and struck out four batters.<\/p>\n
He made a career-high 72 appearances for the Brewers in 2025, when he posted a 2.86 ERA and 1.17 WHIP over 66 innings. He posted a 6-1 record with two saves and was named MLB Pitcher of the Year at the 40th annual Hot Stove of Santa Clara Valley banquet on Jan. 13.<\/p>\n
