On Tuesday, the Chicago Cubs<\/a> are playing the Tampa Bay Rays<\/a> (in Florida) for the second game of their series.<\/p>\n

They lost by a score of 6-4 (on Monday).<\/p>\n

The Cubs got tough news on Tuesday regarding star pitcher Cade Horton<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network wrote:<\/a> \u201cCade Horton will have surgery on his UCL and miss the rest of the season.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amid their injury troubles<\/a>, the team has signed Tyler Beede<\/a> to a minor league deal.<\/p>\n

Tommy Birch of Des Moines Register wrote:<\/a> \u201cRHP Tyler Beede has signed a minor league deal with the Cubs and joined the @IowaCubs. Beede was with the Cubs earlier this year but released in March.\u201d<\/p>\n

Beede most recently appeared in 13 games for the Cleveland Guardians<\/a> during the 2024 season.<\/p>\n

Beede\u2019s MLB Background\"\"<\/p>\n

Beede was the 14th pick in the 2014 MLB<\/a> Draft.<\/p>\n

He spent most of his career playing for the San Francisco Giants<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Following the Giants<\/a>, the 32-year-old had stints with the Pirates<\/a> and Guardians.<\/p>\n

Over 71 career games, Beede has gone 8-16 with a 5.55 ERA.<\/p>\n

The Cubs have gone just 4-6 in their first ten games of the season.<\/p>\n

Before the Rays, they had lost two out of three (at home) to the Guardians.<\/p>\n

Following the Rays, they will head back to Wrigley Field for a series with the Pirates that starts on Friday.<\/p>\n

Despite their recent struggles (and injuries), the Cubs have a very talented roster that is expected to return to the MLB playoffs in 2026.<\/p>\n
