<\/p>\nSean Murphy to begin rehab assignment Friday, per report<\/p>\n

Chad Bishop of the AJC is reporting that Braves catcher Sean Murphy is expected to begin his rehab assignment on Friday. He’s recovering from hip surgery that caused him to miss the final month of the 2025 season.<\/p>\n

Needless to say, this is a very positive development on both fronts. Assuming Spencer Strider\u2019s live BP goes well, that could be the prelude to a rehab assignment for him that should get him back on the field shortly. As far as Murphy goes, he was seen taking BP during Atlanta\u2019s last homestand so this news doesn\u2019t come as much of a surprise since it was apparent that he was ramping up baseball activities in recent times.<\/p>\n
The obvious hope is that we don\u2019t hear about any setbacks for either Murphy or Strider \u2014 oblique injuries are tricky to deal with in Strider\u2019s case and hopefully Murphy will be pain-free for the first time in a handful of years. It\u2019s still genuinely shocking to know that Murphy had been playing with a bad hip for as long as he did but as long as it\u2019s taken care of and he can return to the lineup and be productive, then that\u2019ll simply be water under the bridge.<\/p>\n
So again, it\u2019s lovely to be able to talk about some good injury news around here for once. We\u2019ll keep you posted on any further developments concerning injury updates but for now, we\u2019re getting closer and closer to the Braves getting their intended band back together at some point in the near future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"For once, we have some good injury news to report here in Braves Country.
