COLUMBIA \u2013 Ethan Plyler\u2019s two-run double in the top of the ninth broke a 4-all tie and gave the College of Charleston a 6-4 win over the University of South Carolina baseball team Tuesday night (April 7) at Founders Park.<\/p>\n
The Gamecocks got the first two outs of the ninth, but back-to-back singles were followed by Plyler\u2019s double. Carolina put two runners on in the bottom of the frame, but a strikeout ended the contest.<\/p>\n
The Cougars scored four runs in the first two innings, including a three-run home run from Alex LaCoste. Carolina chipped away with a Jake Randolph sacrifice fly in the fifth and a Will Craddock RBI double in the sixth. Carolina tied the game at four in the seventh on Tyler Bak\u2019s two-run home run, his fifth of the season.<\/p>\n
Luke Yuhasz led Carolina\u2019s offense with three hits. The loss went to Alex Philpott, who allowed two runs on three hits with two strikeouts in 1.1 innings.<\/p>\n

Carolina\u2019s pitching struck out 12 batters, with Connor Chicoli ending with four strikeouts in 3.1 innings of relief.
