NEW YORK (AP) \u2014 Amed Rosario<\/a> homered twice, including a go-ahead, three-run drive in the eighth inning that rallied the New York Yankees<\/a> over the Athletics<\/a> 5-3 on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

New York, trailed 3-1 entering the eighth and had been 0 for 12 with runners on base before its comeback. The Yankees cut the deficit on Giancarlo Stanton<\/a>\u2019s RBI single past shortstop Jacob Wilson<\/a>, who took a misstep to his left.<\/p>\n

Rosario homered to left on an 0-1 splitter from former Yankee Mark Leiter Jr.<\/a> (0-1) for his third multi-homer game and first since Aug. 31, 2021, for Cleveland.<\/p>\n

Rosario also homered in the second on a 43-degree night in the Bronx.<\/p>\n

Rosario made his third start this season and batted seventh in place of struggling Ryan McMahon<\/a> (2 for 23). Rosario had four RBIs for the eighth time in his career and first time since last May 3 for Washington.<\/p>\n

New York\u2019s Nos. 7-9 hitters of Rosario, Austin Wells<\/a> and Jos\u00e9 Caballero went 4 for 11 \u2014 the bottom three in the Yankees ordered entered a major league-worst .122 (11 for 90).<\/p>\n

Fernando Cruz<\/a> (1-0) struck out Lawrence Butler<\/a> with two on to end the eighth and David Bednar<\/a> pitched a perfect ninth for his fifth save.<\/p>\n

Cam Schlittler<\/a> allowed his first three runs of the season, giving up five hits in five innings with seven strikeouts and no walks. Nick Kurtz<\/a>\u2019s two-run double and Tyler Soderstrom<\/a>\u2019s RBI single put the A\u2019s ahead 3-1 lthe third.<\/p>\n

The A\u2019s lost for the seventh time in 10 games and are in a 3-13 skid at Yankee Stadium.<\/p>\n

A\u2019s starter Aaron Civale<\/a> allowed one run and two hits in five innings. He struck out six and walked four in a matchup of former Northeastern University pitchers.<\/p>\n
