Luis Arraez drove in two runs to help San Francisco (4-8) avoid matching its worst start since 2015.

Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto left in the second inning with a bruised foot after tacking a foul ball between the ankle pad and toe pad. X-rays were negative.

Cristopher Sánchez (1-1) uncharacteristically got knocked around for 11 hits. He gave up four runs — only two earned behind some bad Phillies defense — with six strikeouts in five innings. The left-hander had allowed one run during his first two starts.

“I was just missing a lot of pitches,” Sánchez said. “I need to make an adjustment on that end.
