\nThomas Saggese delivered the go-ahead double in the 10th inning as the St. Louis Cardinals rallied for a 7-6 win over the Washington Nationals on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n
Saggese opened the inning with a double to center, scoring the automatic runner, and JJ Wetherholt followed with an RBI double to extend the lead.<\/p>\n
St. Louis erased a late deficit with two home runs. Jordan Walker hit a solo shot in the seventh to pull the Cardinals within two, and Nathan Church tied the game in the eighth with a two-run homer.<\/p>\n
The Cardinals took advantage of Washington\u2019s bullpen, scoring five runs late after the Nationals entered the game with one of the highest bullpen ERAs in the league.<\/p>\n
James Wood homered for the third straight game for Washington, while Curtis Mead also contributed a home run and two RBIs.<\/p>\n
George Soriano earned the win with two scoreless innings in relief. Riley O\u2019Brien picked up the save despite allowing a run in the 10th.<\/p>\n
Matthew Liberatore started for St. Louis and allowed four runs over five innings, while Washington starter Cade Cavalli gave up two runs in 4 2\/3 innings.<\/p>\n
The Cardinals and Nationals will wrap up the series Wednesday.<\/p>\n
