{"id":670163,"date":"2026-04-08T12:01:26","date_gmt":"2026-04-08T12:01:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/670163\/"},"modified":"2026-04-08T12:01:26","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T12:01:26","slug":"cardinals-rally-past-nationals-in-extra-innings-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/670163\/","title":{"rendered":"Cardinals rally past Nationals in extra innings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\nThomas Saggese delivered the go-ahead double in the 10th inning as the St. Louis Cardinals rallied for a 7-6 win over the Washington Nationals on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n<p>Saggese opened the inning with a double to center, scoring the automatic runner, and JJ Wetherholt followed with an RBI double to extend the lead.<\/p>\n<p>St. Louis erased a late deficit with two home runs. Jordan Walker hit a solo shot in the seventh to pull the Cardinals within two, and Nathan Church tied the game in the eighth with a two-run homer.<\/p>\n<p>The Cardinals took advantage of Washington\u2019s bullpen, scoring five runs late after the Nationals entered the game with one of the highest bullpen ERAs in the league.<\/p>\n<p>James Wood homered for the third straight game for Washington, while Curtis Mead also contributed a home run and two RBIs.<\/p>\n<p>George Soriano earned the win with two scoreless innings in relief.
