No. 4 Georgia baseball defeated Presbyterian 28-3 Tuesday night at Foley Field, erupting for 12 runs in the second inning and never looking back as the Bulldogs delivered one of their most dominant offensive performances of the season.<\/p>\n
Georgia, which now leads the NCAA by a wide margin with 98 home runs, finished with 19 hits and scored in four consecutive innings, showcasing both power and depth across its lineup.<\/p>\n
The Bulldogs broke the game open in the second inning with a massive offensive frame. After early traffic on the bases, junior Tre Phelps delivered the defining moment of the game, crushing his 14th home run of the season, a grand slam and the first of his career, to cap off the inning. Shortly after, senior Michael O\u2019Shaughnessy added a two-run home run, his ninth of the year, as Georgia surged to a 14-1 lead.<\/p>\n
Georgia continued to pile on in the third inning, adding nine more runs to extend its advantage to 23-1. The inning was highlighted by a two-RBI pinch-hit double from junior Ryan Wynn, his third in that role this season. Contributions came across the lineup, as Cole Koniarsky, Scott Newman, Jack Arcamone, Brennan Hudson and Ty Peeples all saw action in the scoring outburst.<\/p>\n
Koniarsky added another milestone in the fourth inning, launching his first home run as a Bulldog as Georgia pushed its total to 28 runs over the Blue Hose. Henry Allen also contributed a solo home run in the fifth, continuing the offense.<\/p>\n
On the mound, Georgia used six pitchers to secure the win, combining for 13 strikeouts while allowing just three hits and one earned run. Red shirt, Junior left-hander\u00a0Caleb Jameson earned the victory, tossing two innings with four strikeouts and allowing just one run. Reliever Jordan Stephens, Luke Wiltrakis, Jackson Peavy, Dylan Wood and Brad Pruett combined to limit Presbyterian the rest of the game.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was good. We played every position player on our roster, they all got in there,\u201d head coach Wes Johnson said. \u201cSo when you look at this weekend, Florida statistically has the best three starters in the league on their rotation. So, it\u2019s going to be a dog fight all weekend.\u201d<\/p>\n
