(WLBT) &#8211; Major League Baseball\u2019s hottest prospect, who is a Jackson native, has signed a 9-year deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Konnor Griffin, a Jackson Prep graduate, signed a reported $140 million deal with the franchise on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/pirates\/news\/konnor-griffin-contract-extension?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/pirates\/news\/konnor-griffin-contract-extension?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage\">Tuesday<\/a>. It is the largest contract in Pirates history.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">This comes after the 19-year-old made his MLB debut at shortstop last Thursday against the Baltimore Orioles, a game in which he also recorded his first major league hit and RBI.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt feels great knowing I will be a Pittsburgh Pirate for a long time,\u201d Griffin said. \u201cThe goal is to win every year.
