The Baltimore Orioles<\/a> are trying to contend for a postseason spot once again this season, and so far, the team has looked pretty good.<\/p>\n

Even in a tough AL East, the Orioles look like one of the better teams in the division. One of the big reasons is their ace lefty starting pitcher, Trevor Rogers.<\/p>\n

The 1.89 ERA lefty is in the final year of his club control, and ahead of his free agency, Bleacher Report’s Joel Rueter<\/a> believes Rogers could be in store for a “massive payday” if he does one thing: repeat his performance last season.<\/p>\n

“A knee injury delayed the start of his 2025 season, but once he returned to action, he was one of the best pitchers in baseball,” Reuter writes. “If he comes close to replicating last year’s performance, a massive payday awaits.”<\/p>\n

Rogers is 28 years old and will be a free agent this upcoming offseason. A 29-year-old hitting the open market with two great back-to-back years with very high upside in the rotation would be someone teams would be willing to splurge on.<\/p>\n

Last season, he had an incredible 1.81 ERA in 18 starts with a 9-3 record, 5.4 bWAR, 103 strikeouts, and a WHIP of 0.903 allowed in 109.2 innings pitched.<\/p>\n

If Rogers could have another such season, as looks to be the case with his 1.89 ERA, 2-0 record, and 0.8 bWAR through three starts this season, with 19 innings pitched with 14 strikeouts, then Rogers could land a massive deal next offseason.<\/p>\n

Rogers is an All-Star pitcher who will be one of the best players available to sign in the offseason, even more so if he has a strong 2026 season.<\/p>\n

While Tarik Skubal will draw the most attention, Rogers would surely land a huge deal this offseason from some pitcher-needy team, whether it’s the Orioles or not.<\/p>\n
