Washington clawed one run back when Jacob Young scored on a Luis Garc\u00eda Jr grounder in the bottom of the third. That turned out to be the only run Washington would score, as the Cardinals held Washington to four hits, going 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position. The Cardinals extended their lead in the fifth when Jordan Walker hit his fifth home run of the season to center field. RBI singles by Alec Burleson in the seventh and Yohel Pozo in the ninth provided insurance and the series win.<\/p>\n<p>Burleson led the Cardinals at the plate, going three-for-four with three RBIs. Michael McGreevy pitched a quality start, going six innings and allowing all four hits with the one run, striking out one. Meanwhile, Mikolas lasted three innings, giving up two runs on five hits and three walks, while striking out three. The Washington bullpen combined to strike out six more Cardinal batters, but also allowed four walks and three hits.<\/p>\n<p>The Cardinals sit 7-5 in an NL Central that doesn\u2019t have anyone under .500 heading into the third weekend of the season.
