Colorado has a plus-10 run differential and ranks 11th in OPS (.693) and 11th in team ERA (3.66). The Padres outscored the Rockies, 95-43, in winning 10 of 13 meetings last year.<\/p>\n<p>San Diego Padres (6-6, T-2nd in NL West)<\/p>\n<p>A 4-2 road trip through Boston and Pittsburgh has the Padres at .500 to start the second homestand of the season. They, like the Rockies and Diamondbacks, are already three games behind the Dodgers (9-3). The Padres have a minus-2 run differential, are tied for 27th with a .618 OPS and 15th with a 3.82 team ERA.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Trending<\/p>\n<p>Colorado: OF Mickey Moniak, the No. 1 overall pick in 2016 out of La Costa Canyon High, has a team-high three homers despite playing in just six games since his return from a sprained finger. He is hitting .286\/.304\/.714 on the season. Moniak\u2019s five RBIs over that stretch is tied for the time lead with UT Willi Castro (1.121 OPS) and 1B TJ Rumfield (.969). In the bullpen, LHP Brennan Bernardino (1.93 ERA) leads the team with six appearances, while RHPs Jimmy Herget (1.50 ERA) and Jaden Hill (2.08 ERA) have five each.<\/p>\n<p>San Diego: DH Miguel Andujar hit .412\/.474\/.647 while playing in five games on the road trip, while SS Xander Bogaerts hit .292\/.346\/.458 and hit his first homer. DH Nick Castellanos was 4-for-11 with two doubles. Meantime, four regulars had an OPS under .600 on the trip: OF Jackson Merrill (.581), 2B Jake Cronenworth (.577), OF Fernando Tatis Jr. (.454) and OF Ram\u00f3n Laureano (.364). In the bullpen, RHP Jeremiah Estrada (6.35 ERA) and LHP Wandy Peralta (3.60 ERA) lead the team with six appearances. Bernardino last pitched on April 5 in relief, striking out two over a scoreless frame.<\/p>\n<p>Padres RHP Randy V\u00e1squez (1-0, 0.75 ERA)\u00a0\u00a0 |\u00a0\u00a0 He has an 11-to-4 strikeout-to-walk ratio in turning in back-to-back quality starts (12 IP) to start the season. V\u00e1squez has a 4.30 ERA in six career starts against the Rockies, including winning all three of last year\u2019s starts (2.00 ERA).<\/p>\n<p>Friday<\/p>\n<p>Rockies RHP Tomoyuki Sugano (1-0, 1.69 ERA)\u00a0\u00a0 |\u00a0\u00a0 The former Oriole has allowed two runs on six hits and three walks over 10\u2154 innings to start his Rockies stint. He has struck out nine and allowed two homers. Last year, Sugano allowed an AL-worst 33 homers in 157 innings. This is Sugano\u2019s first appearance against the Padres.<\/p>\n<p>Padres RHP Walker Buehler (0-1, 9.45 ERA)\u00a0\u00a0 |\u00a0\u00a0 The two-time All-Star has allowed seven runs on eight hits and five walks in 6\u2154 innings in his first two starts with the Padres. Opponents have a .733 OPS the first time through the order against Buehler and a 1.299 OPS the second time they face him. Buehler has a 4.71 ERA in 116\u2154 innings in his career against the Rockies.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday<\/p>\n<p>Rockies RHP Ryan Feltner (1-0, 4.32 ERA)\u00a0\u00a0 |\u00a0\u00a0 The 29-year-old threw three shutout innings in his first start at Toronto and then allowed four runs in 5\u2153 innings in a win on Monday against the Astros. Feltner has five strikeouts against three walks so far. He has a 3.80 ERA in five career starts against the Padres, the last in 2024 (4 IP, 4 ER).<\/p>\n<p>Padres RHP Germ\u00e1n M\u00e1rquez (1-1, 4.50 ERA)\u00a0\u00a0 |\u00a0\u00a0 The former Rockies ace threw five shutout innings in a win in Pittsburgh on Monday to rebound from a poor first start with the Padres (3 IP, 4 ER). M\u00e1rquez has five strikeouts against one walk through eight innings. He is facing his former employer after pitching 14 years in the organization. M\u00e1rquez was an All-Star with the Rockies in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday<\/p>\n<p>Rockies LHP Kyle Freeland (1-1, 2.30 ERA)\u00a0\u00a0 |\u00a0\u00a0 He leads the majors with four hit batters but has a 13-to-4 strikeout-to-walk ratio to start the season. Freeland is coming off his first quality start of the season at home against Houston (6\u2153 IP, 1 ER, 5 Ks). Freeland has a 4.46 ERA in 135\u2153 career innings against the Padres. He had a 3.46 ERA in two starts against them last year.<\/p>\n<p>Padres RHP Nick Pivetta (1-2, 5.54 ERA)\u00a0\u00a0 |\u00a0\u00a0 He has a 1.80 ERA, 16 strikeouts and three walks over his last two starts but hasn\u2019t yet turned in a quality start. OF\/INF Tyler Freeman is day-to-day with lower back soreness, while DH Kris Bryant has no timetable while managing lumbar degenerative disk disease.<\/p>\n<p>San Diego: RHP Jason Adam (quad) likely made his last rehab appearance out of Triple-A El Paso\u2019s bullpen on Wednesday, throwing two shutout innings. He could be activated as soon as Friday after a recovery day on Thursday. LHP Yuki Matsui (groin), RHP Matt Waldron (surgery) and INF Sung-Mun Song are also rehabbing with El Paso.
