The skipper specifically highlighted Adolis Garcia, who is expected to move up to the No. 4 spot. The right fielder has typically hit sixth in the lineup. He’s batted cleanup once this year.

After failing to score in the final two games of the series against the Giants, the Phillies have been held without a run for 20 consecutive innings. The club last cracked the scoreboard in the seventh inning of a 6-4 win on Monday, April 6. The club has now lost three of four, including a defeat against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday, April 5. Philadelphia’s offense has generated the sixth-fewest runs over a dozen games. The team ranks in the bottom 10 in the league for batting average, slugging percentage, and OPS.

The lack of firepower is a stark contrast to last season’s offense-driven squad. The Phillies were eighth in scoring in 2025. The club posted a .258 batting average, which ranked only behind the Toronto Blue Jays. Philadelphia received strong contributions up and down the lineup, led by a career-high 56 home runs from Kyle Schwarber and a vintage 36-steal campaign from Trea Turner.

Despite the slow start, Thomson isn’t ready to panic. “You just have to stay the course,” the skipper said. “These guys are going to hit. It’s just a matter of time, and we’re just going through a dry spell.”

Adolis Garcia to Benefit from Batting Order Adjustments

Garcia inked a one-year, $10 million deal with the Phillies this offseason. The 33-year-old has spent the majority of his seven-year MLB career with the Texas Rangers. Garcia won a World Series ring with Texas in 2023.

The outfielder has started all 12 games in right field for his new club. Garcia is slashing .250/.306/.432 to begin the season. The veteran ranks fourth on the team with a .738 OPS, behind Schwarber, Harper, and J.T. Realmuto. Garcia has popped a pair of home runs and chipped in a stolen base. He’s tied for the team lead with 19 total bases.

The productive start to the year is a welcome sign for Garcia, who is coming off the worst season of his career. He stumbled to an 83 wRC+ across 135 games with the Rangers in 2025. Garcia failed to reach 20 home runs for the first time since the shortened 2020 campaign. The disappointing output was surprising considering he trimmed his strikeout rate to a career-low 24.7%. Garcia has maintained a mark below 25% so far in his Phillies tenure.

   More Heavy on Phillies

    Loading more stories

Getty The Philadelphia Phillies will adjust the batting order after getting shut out twice by the San Francisco…

[2397
5,4,144,25,4216,40
0":"post-671822","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-philadelphia-phillies","8":"tag-baseball","9":"tag-mlb","10":"tag-philadelphia","11":"tag-philadelphia-phillies","12":"tag-philadelphiaphillies","13":"tag-phillies
["GET
