Major League Baseball’s best pitcher is going to be a free agent.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tarik Subal’s impending free agency will be the talk of the town in Detroit throughout the summer. As the American League’s back-to-back Cy Young Award winner, Skubal could be in line to sign the largest contract for a starting pitcher in MLB history.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, FanSided’s Robert Murray<\/a> is not convinced that Skubal will return to the Detroit Tigers<\/a>. Murray notes that Framber Valdez will take over as ace for the AL Central club.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s very likely that he\u2019ll leave the Tigers in free agency. Framber Valdez was signed to the richest contract in the Scott Harris era, and he\u2019ll serve as a natural replacement\u00a0for Skubal moving forward,” Murray wrote Friday. “Detroit will try to retain Skubal, of course, but the strong likelihood is that he heads elsewhere.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

Skubal is off to another strong start, with a 2.55 ERA in his first three outings (17.2 innings). He’s struck out 16 batters compared to just two walks allowed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

All 30 clubs will show some level of interest in Skubal’s services this upcoming offseason, but there will be just a select few who can offer as lucrative a deal as he and his agent, Scott Boras, will command.\u00a0<\/p>\n
