NASHVILLE, Tenn. \u2014 Vanderbilt lost 13-11 to No. 16 Oklahoma in the second game of the series Friday at Hawkins Field.<\/p>\n
The Commodores and Sooners combined for 13 runs in the first inning and Oklahoma hit two grand slams to even the series heading into Saturday\u2019s finale.<\/p>\n
Oklahoma plated five runs in the top of the first but Vanderbilt answered with eight in the home half on just two hits.<\/p>\n
The Commodores worked five walks and used two hit-by-pitches to score the first four runs. Rustan Rigdon lined a two-run single to put the Commodores ahead and Brodie Johnston added a two-out, two-run single to make it an 8-5 game after one.<\/p>\n
Ryker Waite ripped a single in the bottom of the second to score Braden Holcomb and put Vanderbilt in front by four.<\/p>\n
The Sooners hit the first of their two grand slams in the top of the fourth to even the score at 9-9.<\/p>\n
The second came in the top of the sixth as the visitors grabbed a 13-9 advantage.<\/p>\n
Holcomb smashed his 12th home run of the season, a two-run shot, in the bottom of the sixth to pull the Dores back within two.<\/p>\n
Vanderbilt brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the ninth but the Sooners turned a game-ending double play to win 13-11 and even the series.<\/p>\n
