He struck out 10 for the second time this season, helping the Diamondbacks to their fifth win in six games.<\/p>\n<p>Brandon Marsh hit a three-run home run for Philadelphia, which has lost three in a row. Phillies starter Jesus Luzardo (1-2) was charged with five runs and five hits in 4\u2154 innings, walking three and striking out eight.<\/p>\n<p>The first three hitters of the fifth inning reached before Luzardo rebounded to strike out Jorge Barrosa. However, Marte followed with a two-run single and then Ildemaro Vargas\u2019 base hit made it 4-3.<\/p>\n<p>Two batters later, McCann laced a two-run double to right to put the visitors ahead by a run. McCann began the game on the bench but came on when Gabriel Moreno (lower back tightness) made an early exit. The veteran catcher was 1-for-15 before hitting his second double of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Paul Sewald allowed a two-out triple to Justin Crawford in the ninth before Turner flew out to end the ballgame.<\/p>\n<p>Nationals 7, Brewers 3<\/p>\n<p>MILWAUKEE &#8212; James Wood highlighted a four-run ninth inning with a run-scoring double as the Washington Nationals came from behind to beat the host Milwaukee Brewers.<\/p>\n<p>The Nationals used three bunts and a hit by pitch off Brewers closer Trevor Megill (0-2, 11.25 ERA) to spark an unusual winning rally.<\/p>\n<p>CJ Abrams was hit by a pitch to start the inning then went to second when Joey Wiemer beat out a bunt.<\/p>\n<p>Luis Garcia Jr. singled up the middle to score Abrams. Jorbit Vivas then bunted back to Megill, who threw the ball away at the plate for a 5-3 Washington lead.<\/p>\n<p>Drew Millas then bunted and Megill came home again, but the throw was too late to get pinch-runner Nasim Nunez.<\/p>\n<p>Wood capped the scoring outburst with his fourth hit of the game.<\/p>\n<p>PJ Poulin (1-0, 4.70) picked up the win after tossing a perfect eighth inning.<\/p>\n<p>Tigers 2, Marlins 0<\/p>\n<p>DETROIT &#8211;\u2014 Keider Montero tossed six strong innings and three relievers completed the shutout as the host Detroit Tigers snapped a five-game losing streak by blanking the Miami Marlins.<\/p>\n<p>Montero (1-1), who was called up from Triple-A Toledo last weekend, allowed just two hits and a walk while recording seven strikeouts. Brant Hurter, Kyle Finnegan and Kenley Jansen each tossed an inning of relief to cap a two- hitter.<\/p>\n<p>Jansen recorded his second save of the season and the 478th of his career, tying him with Lee Smith for third place on the all-time list.<\/p>\n<p>Javier Baez homered, Spencer Torkelson drove in the other run with a single and Colt Keith had two hits for the Tigers.<\/p>\n<p>Marlins starter Chris Paddack (0-2), who spent part of last season with the Tigers, gave up two runs and seven hits in six innings. He fanned four and walked one. Lake Bachar struck out three in two scoreless innings of relief for the Marlins, who had a two-game winning streak end.<\/p>\n<p>Angels 10, Reds 2<\/p>\n<p>CINCINNATI &#8212; Jorge Soler belted a grand slam and Jack Kochanowicz allowed one run in seven innings, fueling the visiting Los Angeles Angels to a victory against the Cincinnati Reds.<\/p>\n<p>Zach Neto launched a two-run homer, Josh Lowe also went deep and Yoan Moncada had an RBI single while reaching base four times Friday. Lowe and Moncada joined Soler and Neto with two hits after entering the game mired in 1-for-25 and 0-for-15 ruts, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Adam Frazier reached base four times and joined Mike Trout in working a bases- loaded walk to help the Angels snap a two-game losing streak.<\/p>\n<p>With the bases loaded in the eighth inning, Soler sent a 3-1 fastball from Kyle Nicolas over the wall in left-center field.<\/p>\n<p>Kochanowicz (2-0) surrendered a single to Eugenio Suarez to lead off the second inning and overcame four walks, including three free passes in the fifth inning. Will Benson scored on TJ Friedl\u2019s groundout to trim Los Angeles\u2019 lead to 4-1 before Kochanowicz induced Matt McLain to ground out to end the inning.<\/p>\n<p>Frazier worked a five-pitch walk against Chase Burns (1-1) with the bases loaded to open the scoring in the second inning. Burns permitted five runs on seven hits with four walks in 5\u2153 innings.<\/p>\n<p>Blue Jays 10, Twins 4<\/p>\n<p>TORONTO &#8212; Brandon Valenzuela hit his first career home run, a two-run blast that capped a five-run fourth inning and the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the visiting Minnesota Twins.<\/p>\n<p>Daulton Varsho added a solo shot and a double in the opener of a three-game series while Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had three hits, including two doubles and an RBI.<\/p>\n<p>Davis Schneider contributed two hits and two RBI for the Blue Jays, who have won two in a row after dropping six straight.<\/p>\n<p>Ryan Jeffers hit a three-run home run and added two singles for the Twins, who had won their four previous games. Brooks Lee added a solo shot.<\/p>\n<p>The Twins took a 3-0 lead in the first inning against Patrick Corbin. Austin Martin and Luke Keaschall hit one-out singles. Jeffers clubbed a first-pitch cutter to left with two out for his first homer of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Toronto scored five in the home fourth against Simeon Woods Richardson (0-2).<\/p>\n<p>Athletics 4, Mets 0<\/p>\n<p>NEW YORK &#8212; A quintet of pitchers combined on a six-hit shutout for the visiting Athletics, who continued surging with a win versus the slumping New York Mets.<\/p>\n<p>Shea Langeliers laced a third-inning run-scoring single in the third before Jeff McNeil (single) and Denzel Clarke (two-run single) added RBI hits in the ninth for the Athletics, who have posted two straight shutouts and won four of their last five following a 2-6 start.<\/p>\n<p>Jacob Wilson went 3-for-4 while McNeil, who played for the Mets from 2018-25, added two hits.<\/p>\n<p>Six players had one hit each for the Mets, who have dropped their past three games by a combined 18-3 immediately after outscoring the opposition 28-8 during a four-game winning streak.<\/p>\n<p>Clay Holmes (2-1) gave up one run on five hits and three walks while striking out three before leaving with one out in the sixth inning due to a left hamstring injury.<\/p>\n<p>J.T. Ginn, making his first start this year, allowed one hit &#8212; a bunt single by Jared Young &#8212; and one walk while striking out four in four scoreless innings. Mark Leiter Jr. tossed a one-hit fifth and Jack Perkins (1-0) was credited with the win after giving up three hits in 2\u2153 innings. Scott Barlow and Elvis Alvarado combined to get the final five outs.<\/p>\n<p>Rays 5, Yankees 3<\/p>\n<p>ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. &#8212; Yandy Diaz started an early comeback with a two-run homer to spoil Luis Gil\u2019s season debut and spark the Tampa Bay Rays to a victory against the New York Yankees.<\/p>\n<p>Seeking more production from an inconsistent lineup, Rays manager Kevin Cash moved Diaz to the cleanup spot after he batted .362 out of the leadoff spot in their first 12 games. Cash also elevated Chandler Simpson to the leadoff spot ahead of Junior Caminero.<\/p>\n<p>Diaz batted cleanup for the first time since Sept. 14, 2024, and drove Gil\u2019s 0-1 slider to right field for a tying two-run homer immediately after Steven Matz (3-0) allowed two runs in the top of the first.<\/p>\n<p>Simpson drove in a pair of runs with a groundout in the second and a single in the sixth. Jonathan Aranda added an RBI groundout after Simpson\u2019s single followed New York reliever Brent Headrick\u2019s fielding error.<\/p>\n<p>Aaron Judge singled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Cody Bellinger while Giancarlo Stanton scored from first on a triple by Amed Rosario that skipped past Simpson in left field. Ben Rice hit a pinch-hit homer with one out in the eighth that center fielder Cedric Mullins nearly robbed with a leap at the wall.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Bigge struck out Bellinger to end the eighth after Rice connected. Bryan Baker entered to start the ninth and allowed two singles to put the tying runs on base with nobody out, but he retired Jazz Chisholm, Randal Grichuk and Trent Grisham to earn his second save.<\/p>\n<p>Giants 6, Orioles 3<\/p>\n<p>BALTIMORE &#8212; Willy Adames, Casey Schmitt and Jung Hoo Lee combined for four runs, five RBI and seven extra-base hits to lead the San Francisco Giants to a victory against the host Baltimore Orioles in the opener of a three-game series.<\/p>\n<p>Adames and Lee each provided a homer, double and two RBI while Schmitt drilled three doubles with two runs and an RBI. Matt Chapman reached base three times with two hits and a walk and also scored a run for the Giants, who won their third straight game<\/p>\n<p>Landen Roupp (2-1) picked up the win while allowing one run on five hits in six innings. He walked two and struck out four.<\/p>\n<p>Gunnar Henderson hit a two-run homer for his third in the last four games, Adley Rutschman went 3-for-5 with two doubles and Leody Taveras had two hits and an RBI for Baltimore, which had a three-game win streak snapped.<\/p>\n<p>San Francisco, launching a nine-game trip in the Eastern time zone, took a 1-0 lead in the third on Adames\u2019 second home run of the season &#8212; a 402-foot drive to right-center.<\/p>\n<p>The Giants extended the lead to 3-0 in the fourth. Schmitt led off with a double and scored one out later on a single by Heliot Ramos, who advanced to second on a single by Patrick Bailey. With two outs, Adames lined a double down the left field line to drive in Ramos. San Francisco scored three times off reliever Nick Raquet in the seventh to extend the lead to 6-1.<\/p>\n<p>Braves 11, Guardians 5<\/p>\n<p>ATLANTA &#8212; Ronald Acu\u00f1a Jr., Matt Olson and Michael Harris II each hit home runs in the sixth inning as the Atlanta Braves picked up a victory against the visiting Cleveland Guardians.<\/p>\n<p>Atlanta sent 10 batters to the plate, pounded out seven hits and scored six runs in the decisive sixth inning.<\/p>\n<p>Acu\u00f1a\u2019s first home run of the season came on a hanging curveball and tied the game at 2.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Drake Baldwin singled to center before Olson launched a 3-0 pitch to right field for a two-run homer and the put the Braves up 4-2.<\/p>\n<p>Austin Riley singled to left field and scored on Dominic Smith\u2019s RBI single for a 5-2 lead. Harris\u2019 two-run shot scored Smith as the Braves opened up a 7-2 lead.<\/p>\n<p>Ozzie Albies and Smith notched two-out RBI singles in the bottom of the seventh and Atlanta led 9-2.<\/p>\n<p>An RBI double by Baldwin gave the Braves a 10-5 lead in the top of the ninth. He scored on an error two hitters later as Atlanta closed out the scoring.<\/p>\n<p>Pirates 2, Cubs 0<\/p>\n<p>CHICAGO &#8212; Bryan Reynolds hit a two-run home run, Carmen Mlodzinski threw 5\u2153 scoreless innings and the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Chicago Cubs.<\/p>\n<p>Facing Chicago starter Shota Imanaga, Pittsburgh didn&#8217;t tally its first hit until the top of the seventh.<\/p>\n<p>The third pitch from Cubs reliever Caleb Thielbar (1-1) was singled to right by Ryan O&#8217;Hearn. His next pitch left the yard off the bat of Reynolds to left field, bringing home what became the only runs of the game on his third homer of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Mlodzinski allowed six hits, walking three and striking out two for Pittsburgh, which has won seven of its past nine games. Mason Montgomery (1-0) earned the win, striking out two batters in relief of Mlodzinski. The Pirates will search for their first series win today against Chicago since September 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Imanaga finished with a no-decision despite striking out nine batters and walking just one across six no-hit frames.<\/p>\n<p>Ian Happ had two hits and Carson Kelly had a single and three walks for Chicago. The Cubs had six hits and worked seven walks, but the were 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position and stranded 11 runners.<\/p>\n<p>Padres 5, Rockies 2<\/p>\n<p>SAN DIEGO &#8212; Gavin Sheets launched a game-ending three-run homer and the San Diego Padres walked off the visiting Colorado Rockies for the second straight game.<\/p>\n<p>Jackson Merrill started the winning rally with a leadoff single off Juan Mejia (0-2). Manny Machado drew a walk and Xander Bogaerts, who cracked a walk-off grand slam Thursday in the 12th inning, advanced Merrill to third with a fly ball to deep right field.<\/p>\n<p>Sheets then crushed a 434-foot bomb to right-center, his second homer of the game and season, to clinch San Diego&#8217;s sixth win in seven games.<\/p>\n<p>Mason Miller (1-0) struck out the side in the ninth for the second straight night. He has fanned 19 hitters in 7\u2153 innings. Dating back to last year, Miller has authored 28\u2154 consecutive scoreless innings. In that span, he has permitted four hits and nine walks while fanning 45.<\/p>\n<p>The Rockies evened the score with a pair of two-out runs in the eighth inning. Pinch hitter Hunter Goodman slashed a single to left-center that scored Brenton Doyle, who had singled and moved to third on two groundouts. Goodman reached second on Tyler Freeman&#8217;s single and scored on Jordan Beck&#8217;s single to right.<\/p>\n<p>Colorado&#8217;s tying rally in the eighth left both starters with no-decisions. Rockies right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano tossed six innings, allowing four hits and two runs with no walks and three strikeouts.<\/p>\n<p>San Diego&#8217;s Walker Buehler needed only 68 pitches to fire six scoreless innings, permitting three hits and walking none while fanning four. He was in line for his first win with the Padres after San Diego broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the fifth.<\/p>\n<p>Mariners 9, Astros 6<\/p>\n<p>SEATTLE &#8212; Randy Arozarena hit a tiebreaking, two-run homer into the second deck in left field in the fifth inning and the Seattle Mariners snapped a five-game skid against the visiting Houston Astros.<\/p>\n<p>Yordan Alvarez hit a three-run homer for the Astros, who lost their fifth in a row.<\/p>\n<p>Mariners starter Emerson Hancock (2-1) overcame one shaky frame to pitch five innings and allowed three runs on four hits. The right-hander walked two and struck out five.<\/p>\n<p>With the score tied at 3, Josh Naylor led off the bottom of the fifth by grounding a single to center field. Arozarena followed with a 426-foot blast off Astros reliever Ryan Weiss (0-2).<\/p>\n<p>The Mariners added four runs in the seventh. Dominic Canzone doubled home one run and another scored on a single by J.P. Crawford. The others came home on a wild pitch and groundout.<\/p>\n<p>Alvarez&#8217;s three-run shot to right in the eighth off Cole Wilcox halved the Astros&#8217; deficit. Matt Brash came in to get an inning-ending double play and Andres Munoz worked the ninth for his first save of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Houston starter Tatsuya Imai didn&#8217;t make it out of the first inning, despite not allowing a ball to leave the infield.<\/p>\n<p>Dodgers 8, Rangers 7<\/p>\n<p>LOS ANGELES &#8212; Max Muncy&#8217;s two-out solo home run in the bottom of the ninth capped his second career three-run game, and it gave the Los Angeles Dodgers a walk-off win against the Texas Rangers.<\/p>\n<p>Andy Pages homered and collected his fourth three-hit game of the season and the Dodgers overcame the first blown save of the season from closer Edwin Diaz, who ended up being the winning pitcher.<\/p>\n<p>The Dodgers won for the sixth time in seven games, notched their sixth comeback win this season and became the first team in Major League Baseball to reach 10 wins in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Pages continued his torrid start to the season with his team-leading fourth home of the season, a two-run shot in the bottom of the eighth inning that gave the Dodgers a 7-4 lead. Pages also hit a go-ahead two-run double in the sixth inning, giving the Dodgers a 5-4 lead after they trailed 4-2.<\/p>\n<p>The Dodgers took a 1-0 lead on Muncy&#8217;s home run in the second inning. Then former Dodgers star Corey Seager hit a three-run home run to give Texas the lead.<\/p>\n<p>Seager hit his second three-run home run against the Dodgers, with whom he was a two-time All-Star, National League Rookie of the Year, World Series and National League Championship Series Most Valuable Player.<\/p>\n<p>Muncy&#8217;s second home run made it 3-2 for Texas in the fourth. Wyatt Langford homered off Dodgers starter Tyler Glasnow to make it 4-2 before Hyeseong Kim hit a sacrifice fly for the Dodgers.<\/p>\n<p>Pages&#8217; home run had the Dodgers in control going to the ninth, but Diaz gave up a two-run home run to Evan Carter and a tying single to Ezequiel Duran with two outs.
