The Yankees lead the AL East with an 8-6 record. The Twins are second in the AL Central with an 8-7 mark.

But there’s one key metric that the Yankees don’t even come close to the Twins.

According to some fascinating research from casino.org measured how loud every stadium is around the Majors. Interestingly, Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins, is the loudest MLB ballpark.

That’s an eyebrow-raising fact. One would think that Yankee Stadium, with some of the best fans in baseball, would make anyone’s ears pop. And while it does get very loud in the Bronx, the data doesn’t compare to Minnesota.

The research measured decibel levels at every stadium. Every stadium in the league ranked as “very loud” except for Coors Field in Colorado and PNC Park in Pittsburgh, which received rankings of just “loud.”

Yankee Stadium came in at a decibel level of 88, with Target Field racking up 103 decibels. That’s a significant difference between Yankees and Twins fans.

For context, a decibel level of about 90 equates to a motorcycle or a power saw. Meanwhile, a decibel level above 100 is akin to a rock concert.

Does that mean that every game at Target Field is like a rock concert? The decibel levels would certainly suggest that. But that doesn’t mean that Yankees fans don’t cause a ruckus. Anyone who’s been to Yankee Stadium will attest that it’s one of the most vibrant venues in any sport.

Yankees Fans Legendary for Support of Beloved Home Team

The decibel measurement is certainly interesting, considering just how legendary Yankees fans are for their support. There is never an empty seat at Yankee Stadium, with the postseason being especially electric.

The 2024 World Series was an example of that. The Yankees-Dodgers series showcased one of the most important rivalries in all of baseball. And the atmosphere at Yankee Stadium was absolutely insane.

That was something that no other ballpark could match. The ambiance in the Bronx, beyond the noise, is just unbelievable. The only thing that could beat it was the atmosphere at the original Yankee Stadium.

One thing is certain: When the Yankees win their next World Series, the noise levels will be so loud that they’ll be audible in space.

Two Other Surprising Teams Round Out Top 3

As for the rest of the research, two interesting teams round out the top three loudest ballparks in the Majors.

American Family Field in Milwaukee came in second with a decibel level of 100. Meanwhile, Petco Park in San Diego ranked third with 96 decibels.

Yankee Stadium ranked 13th.

Incidentally, Yankees fans will be happy to know that Citi Field ranked 14th, one decibel lower. While it may not be a huge difference, it’s still nice to have bragging rights over the crosstown Mets.

Citi Field came in at a decibel level of 87. One decibel higher is enough to fuel the debate that Yankees fans are more passionate than Mets faithful.

Nestor Quixtan Seasoned NHL analyst and baseball writer focused on covering clubs across each league with news, analysis, and insights.
