The Rockies initially made waves starting the season 6-6, but a four-game sweep by San Diego has fans in a frenzy once more.<\/p>\n
After managing only two hits in the series finale against the Padres, and losing the first two games on walk-off home runs, the team clearly needs a boost in the lineup.<\/p>\n
That boost could certainly be on the horizon after his impressive start in Triple-A Albuquerque.<\/p>\n
Charlie Condon could have easily made the team out of spring training, but the Rockies opted to have their No. 2 overall prospect, according to MLB.com, begin the season in Albuquerque.<\/p>\n
Despite missing a few games for cyst removal, the promising prospect has made a strong start with the Isotopes.\u00a0Condon had a stellar day as Albuquerque defeated El Paso 19-12 on Sunday, going 3-for-5 with a home run, double, and a walk. He drove in three\u00a0runs and scored twice.<\/p>\n
Colorado has a variety of players that can assume\u00a0the\u00a0first base position with TJ\u00a0Rumfield\u00a0and Troy Johnston, who is also capable of playing the corner outfield spots.\u00a0Throw in Edouard Julien and Willi Castro there as well.\u00a0Despite this, the Rockies are in need of offensive production, and Condon can play first base and the corner outfield\u00a0spots\u00a0as well.<\/p>\n
Condon has 40 at-bats with the Topes this season, posting a .325\/.438\/.675 slash line, four home runs, two doubles, nine RBIs, and seven walks.\u00a0Perhaps this is an opportunity to allow Jordan Beck, currently hitting just .100 with five RBI in 33 plate appearances, to rediscover his swing without the pressure of the major leagues<\/a> at the Triple-A level.<\/p>\n Also worth noting, Cole\u00a0Carrigg\u00a0(Rockies No. 6 prospect) had a strong performance Sunday afternoon. The speedy outfielder\/shortstop went 3-for-5 with a triple, four RBIs, and three runs scored in the win.
