PHILADELPHIA \u2013 On a black table with a white covering in the center of the Phillies\u2019 clubhouse at Citizens Bank Park, there sits a silver Apple laptop computer with a decal that reads \u201cDj BOMBI.\u201d Beneath that is a disc jockey setup, complete with turntables and all. The DJ equipment belongs to new Phillies right fielder Adolis Garc\u00eda, and it has popped up at the stadium in recent days.<\/p>\n

Garc\u00eda\u2019s teammates said they haven\u2019t quite yet heard a full-blown performance, but they\u2019ve been impressed with their first taste of his musical abilities.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve seen the preview, and it is something else in the best way possible,\u201d outfielder Brandon Marsh said. \u201cHe\u2019s a dude of many traits. So not only hitting homers and throwing the ball 130 (mph) from right. He does a good mix on the DJ booth.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Garc\u00eda is now the Phillies\u2019 clubhouse DJ, by request of his fellow players. His teammates found out about his off-field hobby and asked him to bring out the table. The Phillies have gotten off to a slow start, but the plan for now is for Garc\u00eda to be in charge of the tunes after a win.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always enjoyed and loved music,\u201d Garc\u00eda said via a team interpreter, \u201cso I started learning about it two or three years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Phillies\u2019 new DJ is also the new cleanup hitter. Garc\u00eda was moved up to the No. 4 spot as the team continues its search for a consistent power threat behind Bryce Harper. Garc\u00eda, who has 143 career home runs, might get an extended look in that spot.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cJust trying to find the right mix here,\u201d manager Rob Thomson said pregame about his decision to change the lineup.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And Garc\u00eda is still trying to find the right mix that will fire up the boys. The Phillies in recent years have been known for their postgame victory playlists curated by Kyle Schwarber and Garrett Stubbs, now a catcher at Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The \u201cPhils Win\u201d playlist in 2022 evolved into the \u201cWinners win\u201d remix from local DJs, The Armentani Brothers, in 2024. The Phillies passed around the aux, as the kids would say, in 2025. This year, it seems like it\u2019s Garc\u00eda\u2019s turn.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe best. I call him DJ Diesel,\u201d pitcher Jos\u00e9 Alvarado joked, referring to the performing moniker of Basketball Hall of Fame center Shaquille O\u2019Neal. \u201cIt\u2019s awesome, man. It\u2019s something different for everybody here on the club. I love it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Garc\u00eda is spending the year in Philly on a one-year, $10 million deal after being non-tendered by the Texas Rangers at the end of last season. He never brought out the audio equipment during his time with Texas. It\u2019s a hit so far in the Phillies\u2019 clubhouse.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThey love it,\u201d Garc\u00eda said. \u201cEveryone is amazed. They like it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Garc\u00eda will also play occasionally before games, but more wins will lead to more songs bumping in the Phillies\u2019 clubhouse afterwards.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cNew year, new team, we\u2019re trying to figure out what\u2019s going to be our thing postgame,\u201d Marsh said. \u201cAnd that\u2019s what it\u2019s looking like it\u2019s trending towards.\u201d<\/p>\n
