{"id":676965,"date":"2026-04-16T14:19:16","date_gmt":"2026-04-16T14:19:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/676965\/"},"modified":"2026-04-16T14:19:16","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T14:19:16","slug":"baseball-scoreboard-nofo-stays-alive-for-playoffs-jax-co-ousted-in-loss-to-apalachee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/676965\/","title":{"rendered":"Baseball scoreboard: NoFo stays alive for playoffs; Jax Co. ousted in loss to Apalachee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>COAL MOUNTAIN, Ga. \u2014 North Forsyth\u2019s playoff hopes stayed alive with a huge 6-4, Region 6-6A win over Lambert on Wednesday at home.<\/p>\n<p>The Raiders (16-13, 11-9 Region 6-6A) came into Wednesday in a three-way tie for third but moved a game ahead of Alpharetta (13-16, 10-10 Region 6-6A), who lost 11-1 to Denmark. The win kept them in a tie for third place with West Forsyth (14-15, 11-9 Region 6-6A) with one game left.<\/p>\n<p>North Forsyth struck quickly in the first. Trey Windham singled in a run and Parker Aucoin blasted a three-run home run for a 4-0 lead. The Raiders pushed the lead to 6-0 in the second on Windham\u2019s two-run homer.<\/p>\n<p>Lambert chipped away, scoring single runs in the third, fourth, fifth, and seventh innings. But Seth Dixon held on for the win.<\/p>\n<p>Dixon went the distance, allowing four runs (three earned) on 11 hits in a complete-game effort. He struck out seven and walked one.<\/p>\n<p>Windham had four hits and Aucoin and Dixon each had two hits for the Raiders.<\/p>\n<p>The two teams\u2019 will close out the season on Friday. The Raiders can clinch a playoff spot with a win or an Alpharetta loss.<\/p>\n<p>APALCHEE 6,<\/p>\n<p>JACKSON COUNTY 4<\/p>\n<p>The Panthers bid for a playoff spot came to an end on Wednesday as the two teams battled for the final postseason spot in Region 8-5A.<\/p>\n<p>Jackson County (11-16, 5-7 Region 8-5A) took a quick 1-0 in the first, scoring on a wild pitch. But the Wildcats (11-16, 6-6 Region 8-5A) answered with two runs each in the first and third inning to take a 4-1 lead.<\/p>\n<p>The Panthers pulled within 4-3 on an RBI single from Bodhi Schleher, who later stole home. They got within 5-4 in the sixth on Wes Ashcroft\u2019s RBI groundout.<\/p>\n<p>But Apalachee scored a huge insurance run in the bottom of the sixth and Jackson County went down in order in the seventh.<\/p>\n<p>HABERSHAM CENTRAL 15,<\/p>\n<p>ALCOVY 0 (3 inn)<\/p>\n<p>The Raiders closed out their season with a dominating Region 8-5A win at home.<\/p>\n<p>Habersham Central (22-8, 9-3 Region 8-5A) scored seven runs in the first and eight in the second. Maverick Chitwood led the Raiders with two hits. Hudson Gailey, Chaz Johnson, Micah Huff, and Kreed Barrett each drove in two runs for Habersham.<\/p>\n<p>Carter Crane earned the win for the Raiders, going two innings, allowing no hits and striking out. Preston Erwin pitched a scoreless inning in relief.<\/p>\n<p>GAINESVILLE 8,<\/p>\n<p>JOHNS CREEK 4<\/p>\n<p>The Red Elephants used a six-run fifth inning to erase an early deficit en route to the win. Beckett Brown had the big blow with a three-run home run.<\/p>\n<p>Cohen Miller earned the win for Gainesville, allowing two runs on five hits in five innings. Chase Gannon pitched the final two innings giving up two runs on three hits.<\/p>\n<p>Gainesville piled up 15 hits in the game. CJ Saudarg had four hits and Brody Burke and Asher Stephens each had two hits for Big Red.
