Houston is scoring 5.67 runs per game, third in MLB, and their .830 team OPS leads the American League. Yordan Alvarez is slashing .317/.475/.700 with six home runs, Christian Walker is hitting .320, and the lineup keeps grinding out at-bats and putting up crooked numbers. At home, they’re 7-2 and have been particularly dangerous.

Tomoyuki Sugano has pitched decently at times, but he’s giving up home runs at an alarming rate. Three HRs in 16.2 innings is a real problem, especially against an Astros lineup that leads the AL in OPS. Sugano isn’t a strikeout guy (career 6.14 K/9), so when Houston makes contact, balls tend to find seats.

On the other side, Ryan Weiss is a question mark. He dominated in Korea last year with a 2.87 ERA and 207 strikeouts, but he’s been knocked around in his first two MLB starts, posting a 7.36 ERA and 2.09 WHIP through 7.1 innings. The Rockies aren’t the Dodgers or Yankees, but they’ve shown flashes, scoring 14 runs on Toronto earlier this month and putting up runs in bursts against vulnerable arms.

With two wobbly starters, a hitter-friendly ballpark, and the best offense in the AL at home, I’ll take the over.

Rockies vs. Astros Pick: OVER 9 Runs (-105)

Rockies vs. Astros Prop Bet

Tomoyuki Sugano UNDER 3.5 Strikeouts (-145)

Sugano’s not a strikeout pitcher. His career K/9 sits at 6.14, and the Astros lineup will capitalize on a dude who lacks strikeout stuff, especially at home. Houston has the second-lowest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching, meaning they put the ball in play more consistently than almost anyone. That’s a tough matchup for a contact-oriented veteran.

The trends back it up, too. Sugano has hit this under in one of three starts this season, and he went under this same strikeout total in 15 of 30 starts last year. The last two Rockies starters, Jose Quintana and Michael Lorenzen, have both gone under their strikeout totals in recent outings. The Astros don’t chase, they don’t whiff, and Sugano doesn’t miss bats.

Rockies vs. Astros Betting TrendsThe OVER has cashed in 13 of the Astros’ 18 games, generating +7.3 units. The total has gone OVER in 4 of Colorado’s last 6 games.Colorado is 1-15 SU in its last 16 games when playing on the road against Houston.

The Rockies head to Daikin Park on Thursday night for the finale of a three-game series against the…

[2389
42,5,139,54,3211,4
0":"post-677003","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-houston-astros","8":"tag-astros","9":"tag-baseball","10":"tag-houston","11":"tag-houston-astros","12":"tag-houstonastros","13":"tag-mlb
["GET
