In his rookie campaign, he showcased strong swing-and-miss potential and was extremely efficient at capping power, finishing in baseball’s top one percent in exit velocity.

Although Mejia has been most useful in short bursts, he deals some electric stuff, averaging 97.6 mph on his fastball so far this season.

He’s had six previous appearances against the Astros, where he managed a 2.70 ERA and four strikeouts through 6 ⅔ innings. In the five appearances he’s had, there hasn’t been much to praise. Weiss’ command has been shaky, and it’s led to hard contact and allowing nine earned runs in 11 innings.

Jose Altuve rejoins the lineup after having Wednesday off, and that’s being priced into the line.

If there’s any bat I’m looking at, though, it’s Rockies catcher Hunter Goodman, who already has three home runs and four RBI against the Astros this season.

THE PLAY: Rockies moneyline (+164, bet365)

Why Trust New York Post Betting

Sean Treppedi handicaps the NFL, NHL, MLB and college football for the New York Post.
