On Friday night, the Atlanta Braves<\/a> will open up a series with the Phillies in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

The Braves are coming off a series where they won two out of three over the Miami Marlins<\/a> (at home).<\/p>\n

Former Atlanta Braves All-Star Announced Retirement\"\"<\/p>\n

With the season well underway, it\u2019s worth noting that former Braves star Julio Teheran<\/a> announced his retirement from baseball last month.<\/p>\n

He wrote via Instagram<\/a> on March 10 (translated to English): \u201cToday I decide to close one of the best stages of my life. After many years this sport I have made the difficult decision to leave Game . it\u2019s been years of many sacrifices, joys, learnings and moments that will mark my life forever. I thank God for this talent He gave me and for the health He gave me to make all this possible To my family that was with me since day 1 unconditionally And for being that motivation, that engine, that push when I thought there was nothing else there. To my mentors, teammates, fans who supported me along this way and who celebrated with me. gratitude and pride I feel knowing it was a mission accomplished The discipline, humility and resilience that baseball taught me will always be part of who I am. THANKS TO ALL FOR ACCOMPANYING ME IN THIS BEAUTIFUL JOURNEY SINCE MY 5 YEARS THE HORSE OF OLAYA\u201d<\/p>\n

Teheran\u2019s MLB Career<\/p>\n

Teheran was spent the first nine years of his career playing for the Braves.<\/p>\n

In 2013 (at just 22), he went 14-8 with a 3.20 ERA in 30 games.<\/p>\n

The 35-year-old made two All-Star Games in that span (2014 and 2016).<\/p>\n

In that span, Teheran also pitched in four MLB<\/a> playoff games across three different seasons.<\/p>\n

Following his nine-year run in Atlanta, Teheran had stints with the Milwaukee Brewers<\/a>, Los Angeles Angels<\/a>, Detroit Tigers<\/a> and New York Mets<\/a>.<\/p>\n

His most notable stop after the Braves came with the Brewers (2023) when he went 3-5 with a 4.40 ERA in 14 games.<\/p>\n

Over 255 games, Teheran went 81-82 with a 3.85 ERA.<\/p>\n

While he will not be a Hall of Famer, the former All-Star had a very productive career (and will be remembered by Braves fans).<\/p>\n

Longtime #Braves<\/a> pitcher Julio Teheran has retired after 13 years in the majors. He\u2019s 35 years old.<\/p>\n

He went 77-73 with a 3.67 ERA in 9 seasons for Atlanta. An All-Star in 2014 & 2016, Teheran was the Opening Day starter every season from 2014-2019 (6x).\n<\/p>\n

The Braves are currently the first-place team in the National League East with a 12-7 record in 19 games.<\/p>\n
