Texas Rangers<\/a> outfielder Mark Canha<\/a> has reportedly requested his release<\/a>, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.<\/p>\n

\u201cVeteran OF Mark Canha asked for his release today from the Rangers to seek big league opportunities elsewhere,\u201d Heyman wrote on X, formerly Twitter.<\/p>\n

Canha signed a minor league contract with the Rangers<\/a> this past offseason. Texas also signed Andrew McCutchen<\/a>, however, who ultimately earned the final outfield roster spot. Canha has not played in a game with the Rangers this season.<\/p>\n

Canha will be an interesting free agent. He wants to play in MLB, and it would not be surprising to see at least a few teams interested in him.<\/p>\n

The 37-year-old can play outfield and first base. He is a right-handed bat, so teams could platoon him with a left-handed hitter.<\/p>\n

Canha most recently appeared in the big leagues in 2025 with the Kansas City Royals<\/a>. He played in only 46 games, however, hitting .212\/.272\/.265. Regardless, he is a veteran big league ball player with a proven track record.<\/p>\n

As for the Rangers, Texas defeated the Athletics<\/a> by a final score of 9-6 on Thursday. The Rangers and A\u2019s are now tied for first place in the American League West division with 10-9 overall records. Texas is not playing the best baseball, but the ball club is finding ways to win nonetheless.<\/p>\n

The Rangers\u2019 next series will be played against the Mariners<\/a> in Seattle<\/a>. It will be a three-game series, beginning on Friday and ending on Sunday. Friday\u2019s first pitch is scheduled for 9:40 PM EST.<\/p>\n
