A few weeks ago, we gave you a list of some Trojans to watch<\/a> during the 2026 MLB season. This week, one of those players returned to a big league mound for the first time in nearly two years.<\/p>\n

Following an injury to reliever Ben Casparius<\/a>, the Los Angeles Dodgers<\/a> called up former USC pitcher Kyle Hurt<\/a> on Monday. On Wednesday night, Hurt saw his first MLB action since April 2024, closing out the team\u2019s 8-1 win over the New York Mets<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hurt pitched at USC from 2018-2020 and was drafted by the\u00a0Miami Marlins<\/a>\u00a0in the fifth round of the 2020 MLB Draft. He was traded to the\u00a0Dodgers<\/a>\u00a0in 2021 and made his MLB debut with the team in 2023. Early in the 2024 season, however, he underwent Tommy John surgery that kept him out for each of the team\u2019s World Series titles over the past two years.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, Hurt saw his first MLB action in nearly two years. He allowed one run on two hits working the ninth inning of Los Angeles<\/a>\u2019s 8-1 victory, recording three strikeouts.<\/p>\n

The Dodgers currently have the best record in baseball at 14-4. Hurt will look to earn a regular role in the team\u2019s bullpen as they chase a historic third consecutive World Series championship.<\/p>\n
