NEW YORK – Jazz Chisholm Jr.<\/a> was out for early, extra batting practice prior to Friday’s game.<\/p>\n

Working one-on-one with Yankees<\/a> batting coach James Rowson at empty Yankee Stadium, Chisholm was hitting off the high velocity machine, about four hours before first pitch versus the Kansas City Royals<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Among the Yankees off to a rough start at the plate, Chisholm is batting .179 (12-for-67) over his first 19 games with no home runs and three RBI in 74 plate appearances.<\/p>\n

Of course, the Yankees are also still waiting on Austin Wells<\/a> and Ryan McMahon<\/a> to pick it up, but there are seven Yankees so far batting under .200 through their first 19 games.<\/p>\n

Overall, the Yanks are batting .214, third last in the American League, as they open a three-game home series, with veteran Royals’ righty Michael Wacha<\/a> (2-0, 0.43 ERA) opposing the Yanks’ Cam Schlittler<\/a> (2-1, 2.49 ERA) in Friday night’s opener.<\/p>\n

McMahon is on the bench again Friday night, with Amed Rosario<\/a> getting the start at third base.<\/p>\n
