\"Gwynedd<\/a>With the postseason race tightening across the region, Friday delivered a pair of results that reshaped the standings.<\/p>\n

Gwynedd Mercy handled its business at home, edging Marymount, 3-2, in an Atlantic East matchup with direct playoff implications. The win moved the Griffins to 7-6 in conference play, pulling them into a tie with Marymount for fourth place \u2014 the final spot in next month\u2019s tournament.<\/p>\n

The Griffins built their advantage early and leaned on pitching the rest of the way.<\/p>\n

A three-run third inning provided all the offense. A sacrifice fly opened the scoring before Jake Vitale doubled home a run and Charlie Neal added an RBI single to make it 3-0. Gwynedd Mercy finished with 11 hits, with Vitale leading the way with three.<\/p>\n

From there, Connor Hafto controlled the game. The right-hander worked into the ninth inning, allowing just two unearned runs on four hits while keeping Marymount off balance throughout. The visitors made a late push in the ninth, trimming the deficit to one, but Chase Hamilton closed it out to secure the win.<\/p>\n

Defensively, the Griffins turned three double plays and limited Marymount to five hits in a complete effort that keeps them firmly in the postseason mix.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Widener delivered a comeback of its own \u2014 and made an even bigger move in its conference race.<\/p>\n

The Pride erased an early four-run deficit to defeat Hood, 7-6, in the opener of a three-game series, improving to 10-6 in conference play and moving into sole possession of second place in the MAC Commonwealth.<\/p>\n

Widener trailed 4-0 after three innings before beginning its climb back. Kevin Bukowski got the rally started with an RBI single in the third, and Braedyn Clinton followed in the fourth with a two-run double to cut the deficit to one.<\/p>\n

Hood briefly regained control with a run in the sixth, but Widener answered with its decisive inning in the bottom half. With the bases loaded, Ryan Bauerle delivered a two-run double to tie the game before a sacrifice fly put the Pride in front. An error later in the inning allowed another run to score, extending the lead to 7-5.<\/p>\n

Hood pushed one run across in the ninth, but Widener held on to complete the comeback.<\/p>\n

Clinton led the offense with two hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored, while Bauerle added two hits and drove in two. On the mound, Trae Sanders worked 6 2\/3 innings, striking out seven to keep the Pride within striking distance.<\/p>\n
