PHOENIX (AP) \u2014 Nolan Arenado<\/a> homered and right-hander Michael Soroka<\/a> moved into a tie for the MLB lead in wins among starters with his fourth of the season as the Arizona Diamondbacks<\/a> beat the Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> 6-3 Friday night.<\/p>\n

Corbin Carroll<\/a> and Jos\u00e9 Fernandez had RBI singles in the fifth inning off Eric Lauer<\/a> (1-3) for Arizona, playing its first game at home after a 6-3 East Coast trip.<\/p>\n

Soroka (4-0), just two years removed from a 0-10 season with the Chicago White Sox<\/a>, is tied with the the Angels\u2019 Jos\u00e9 Soriano for the major league lead among starters. Milwaukee\u2019s Aaron Ashby<\/a> has won five games in relief.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old Soroka went seven innings, giving up five hits and two runs. He walked none and struck out five. Jonathan Loaisiga<\/a> gave up a run in the eighth on Vladimir Guerrero Jr.<\/a>\u2019s two-out single, but struck out Jes\u00fas S\u00e1nchez to end the threat.<\/p>\n

Arizona added a run in the eighth off former Diamondback Joe Mantiply<\/a> when Tim Tawa<\/a> doubled to score James McCann<\/a>, who led off the inning with a single.<\/p>\n

Paul Sewald<\/a> pitched the ninth for his major league-leading seventh save.<\/p>\n

Arenado\u2019s homer, his third of the season, came in the fourth inning. He drove in another run in the seventh after Guerrero\u2019s error on Fernandez\u2019s grounder allowed a run to score.<\/p>\n

Myles Straw<\/a> hit his first home run of the season for Toronto in the sixth. Straw entered the game in the third inning, replacing center fielder Daulton Varsho<\/a>, who came out of the game with left knee discomfort.<\/p>\n

Blue Jays opener Braydon Fisher<\/a> gave up a two-out double to Geraldo Perdomo<\/a>, but pitched around it, and Eric Lauer<\/a> replaced him to start the second. Lauer went five innings, allowing five hits and three runs.<\/p>\n
