Area Prep Baseball Playoff Report for Sat., Apr. 18<\/p>\n

In the LHSAA prep baseball playoffs Friday, No. 16 seed Mandeville handled No. 17 Airline 8-1 tom complete a series sweep.<\/p>\n

Ole Miss commit Greyson Parker stole the show. Parker allowed just one hit in five innings and struck out eight to get the win and he drilled a home run for the Skippers. Ardan Calegan pitched the final two innings. <\/p>\n

Landon Moss had four hits and drove in two runs while Kaden Croft had three hits for Mandeville.<\/p>\n

The Skippers (25-8-2) will travel to top seed Barbe in the best-of-three regional round series.<\/p>\n

No. 18 Kenner Discovery won 11-8 at No. 15 Lake Charles College Prep in game one of the best-of-three Select Division II series.<\/p>\n

The Swamp Owls came from behind to get the win.<\/p>\n

The game was tied 2-2 after one inning before the Trailblazers took an 8-3 lead after two innings. <\/p>\n

Kenner Discovery cut the deficit to 8-4 in the third inning and pulled within 8-7 in the fourth inning. The Swamp Owls scored four runs in the fifth to overcome Lake Charles College Prep.<\/p>\n

Keith Champagne homered and drove in two runs for the Swamp Owls. Jackson Fischtziur tripled and drove in four runs. Jack Ratcliff had a hit and two RBI. Ethan Kihnel pitched five innings to get the win while Connor Donato pitched the final two innings to get the save.<\/p>\n

Jay\u2019von Owens took the loss for the Trailblazers. Ian Ramos had a double and three RBI while Dylan Vital had three hits and two RBI. <\/p>\n

Game two is at 11 a.m. Saturday with game three, if necessary, to follow.<\/p>\n

In Select Division III, No. 12 St. Thomas Aquinas handled No. 21 D\u2019Arbonne Woods 11-1 in a game shortened to five innings.<\/p>\n

The Falcons scored in all five innings.<\/p>\n

Oklahoma commit Cameron Gangi was 4 for 4 with a triple and an RBI for St. Thomas Aquinas. Gavin Ladut had three hits and two RBI, Gavin Brown had two doubles and two RBI and Graham Gares had two hits and an RBI. <\/p>\n

Keegan Lyons went the distance, allowing an unearned run on just one hit to get the win. <\/p>\n

Game two is at noon Saturday with game three, if necessary, to follow.<\/p>\n

Also in Select Division III, No. 15 Northlake Christian advanced, shutting out No. 18 Houma Christian 3-0 at home to win the series two games to none.<\/p>\n

Stew Covey was the story, pitching a no-hitter for the Wolverines. Covey walked one and struck out four.<\/p>\n

Nathan Krone had an RBI double while Luke McAdams had an RBI single for the Wolverines.<\/p>\n

Northlake Christian (21-10) advances to play at No. 2 Newman in the regional round.<\/p>\n
