The Philadelphia Phillies<\/a> cannot seem to find a groove, as they\u2019ve lost three in a row and have been outscored 30-6. The offense has been the main concern (as it was last season), ranking 20th in OPS (.682), 25th in batting average (.227), and 24th in runs (72).\u00a0<\/p>\n

Since it’s still early, the Phillies can turn things around, but designated hitter Kyle Schwarber does feel there\u2019s a \u201csense of urgency.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThere’s always a sense of urgency. It doesn’t matter it’s on a daily basis,\u201d Schwarber said to\u00a0Tim Kelly of OnPattison<\/a>. \u201cDoesn’t matter if you’re on a 20-game win streak or a 20-game losing streak. There’s always a sense of urgency to go out there and win a baseball game. So that’s just the mindset that we always have. And you could be hitting .400 there’s always such urgency, because you got another game tomorrow, and same thing, if you hit .100 always such urgency. There\u2019s a game tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n

For his efforts, the runner-up to the National League MVP last season has been his normal self at the plate. In 19 games, Schwarber is hitting .209 with a .891 OPS, with six home runs, and 12 RBI.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Schwarber has been batting second for manager Rob Thomson this season after being the Phillies’ lead-off hitter (.226 batting average\/.842 OPS) and cleanup hitter (.273\/.937) during his tenure.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Since shortstop Trea Turner has still failed to get himself going (.260\/.703), a shakeup at the top of the batting order for Thomson could be the move. Thomson has shown an unwillingness to move Trea out of the lead-off spot, while shaking up the 4-9 spots in his order.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Saturday’s game will feature a pair of left-handed aces taking the mound, with 2024 National League Cy Young Award winner Chris Sale toeing the slab for the Braves, while Cristopher Sanchez (runner-up in the voting last season) will oppose him.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
