The Dodgers ended up winning the sweepstakes, signing D\u00edaz to a three-year, $69 million deal.<\/p>\n
Fast forward to mid-April, and the Dodgers and Mets faced each other for the first time in 2026. Ahead of the series opener, D\u00edaz had the chance to catch up with Mets owner Steve Cohen. <\/p>\n
The Dodgers closer revealed what he said to Cohen during their conversation. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe have a good relationship,\u201d D\u00edaz said to Dylan Hernandez <\/a>of the California Post. \u201cHe understands this is a business.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe talked about many things,” he added. “We didn\u2019t talk about my decision. We talked about our families, how he was doing, how the boys were doing. My relationship with Steve goes beyond sports. They treated me really well in New York, and we always had good communication.\u201d <\/p>\n Cohen is one of the more vocal MLB owners as he’s always expressing his thoughts and opinions via social media. In an interview this spring, he also made his thoughts known on D\u00edaz signing with the World Series champion Dodgers.<\/p>\n \u201cI did find that one perplexing. [I\u2019m] not sure exactly how Edwin arrived at that decision,\u201d Cohen said in an\u00a0interview with Mets radio broadcaster Howie Rose<\/a>. \u201cObviously it\u2019s a personal decision on his part, and I thought we made a pretty respectable bid.\u201d <\/p>\n By D\u00edaz’s remarks, however, the pair seem to still have a strong rapport with one another. <\/p>\n In Wednesday’s series finale, D\u00edaz war warming up to finally face his former team.
