The start to the 2026 Boston Red Sox season<\/a> hasn’t been the easiest to stomach, but thankfully, Trillium Brewery is here with a solution to make it go down smooth.<\/p>\n

Last summer, Sox fans got burned by a beer collaboration, believing that Alex Bregman linking up with Sam Adams to produce “Bregman’s Beer” <\/a>was a good sign that his one year in Boston was likely to be extended. And … it probably was! Unfortunately, the Red Sox front office\/executive core has never met a long-term extension for a beloved player they can’t screw up. So here we are. <\/p>\n

Maybe Bregman demanded a no-trade clause from the fine people at Sam Adams, but John Henry wouldn’t sign off. Regardless, Bostonian fans looking for a replacement Sox-themed brew finally have a solution (and this guy’s here for the long haul).<\/p>\n

Roman Empire, a “bright, citrus-forward, and easy-drinking” IPA <\/a>hopped with Citra and Nectaron, just hit shelves in conjunction with the opening of the Red Sox season. While the packaging doesn’t explicitly feature Roman Anthony’s face, it’s Green Monster-centric, and it’s incredibly clear where the inspiration came from here.<\/p>\n

Do we believe Roman Anthony has ever has ever chosen to drink an IPA of his own accord? Almost definitely not. He also just turned 21 last May, so he’s not even one year into his journey with alcohol (yes, of course, we believe this)! But do we trust Trillium implicitly, with or without Roman’s endorsement? Also yes. Plus, they’ve released a corresponding run of limited-edition City Connect x Trillium t-shirts<\/a> to go along with the beer’s Green Monster theming. You really can’t miss.<\/p>\n

This may be the first local craft product to capitalize on Anthony’s budding star, but it certainly won’t be the last. While the franchise might be placing undue pressure on him, given their aversion to surrounding him with a high-priced offensive star to match, the kid clearly has the talent to meet the moment. Now, it’s all about relaxation \u2014 and Trillium might have something that can help with that.<\/p>\n

Whether Sox fans like it or not, the time is here for Anthony to be the organization’s Billboard Guy. At least there’s no risk that he’ll bolt and leave a sour taste in fans’ mouths, like drinking a craft IPA that’s not so fresh.<\/p>\n
