Little Falls, N.J. \u2013 The University of Maine baseball program split their Saturday doubleheader with NJIT to grab their third-straight series victory in conference play.<\/p>\n

First Pitch (Game One \u2013 7 Inn.) \u2013 2 PM \u2013 6-3 NJIT<\/p>\n

Scoring Plays:

\n\u00a0Jack Quigley<\/a> got the Black Bears on the board first as he hit an RBI groundout to shortstop, bringing home Chris Bear<\/a> (1B) in the second inning.<\/p>\n

Troy Carpenter<\/a> drove in a run in the seventh inning, bringing home Nolan DeAndrade<\/a> (BB) with a single to center field.<\/p>\n

Hunter St. Denis<\/a> capped off the scoring for Maine with an RBI single to right field, scoring Carpenter (1B).<\/p>\n

Pitching Breakdown:

\nGianni Gambardella<\/a> (4-4) took the loss as he went 5 and 1\/3 innings in the contest, allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits, two walks a strikeout.<\/p>\n

Owen Wheeler<\/a> recorded the final two outs of the contest, allowing no base runners while striking out a batter.<\/p>\n

First Pitch (Game Two) \u2013 4:30 PM \u2013 4-2 Maine

\nScoring Plays:

\n\u00a0Nic Pepe<\/a> got the Black Bears on the board in the second inning as he hit a two-run home run to right field, his third home run of the season. Brody Rasmussen<\/a> (2B) scored on the play.<\/p>\n

Shane Andrus<\/a> hit his third home run of the season in the fourth inning as he hit a no-doubt, solo shot to left field.<\/p>\n

Jack Quigley<\/a> hit his first collegiate home run in the eighth inning, a solo shot to right field, to cap off the Black Bears scoring on the day.<\/p>\n

Pitching Breakdown:

\nVaun Larisa<\/a> (1-3) picked up his first win of the season as he turned in a quality start, allowing just two runs on six hits, no walks and four strikeouts.<\/p>\n

Brennan Rumpf<\/a> (1) picked up his first save of the season as he went three shutout innings in relief, allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out four batters.<\/p>\n

Next Time Out:

\nThe Black Bears (11-24) head to Boston College for a midweek matchup on Tuesday, April 21. First pitch is scheduled for 3 PM.<\/p>\n
