(Photo by Mike Stobe\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>The <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/mlb\/new-york-yankees\/\" title=\"New York Yankees\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"230926\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New York Yankees<\/a> have added to their prospect pool after completing a trade with the Houston Astros.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Yankees\/status\/2045895230449135766\" rel=\"nofollow\">Yankees have announced<\/a> that they have acquired prospect pitcher Wilmy Sanchez from the Houston Astros in exchange for infielder Braden Shewmake.<\/p>\n<p>Sanchez has appeared in five games with Double-A Corpus Christi this season, where he has a 0-0 record, a 1.29 ERA, and eight strikeouts. This is after he had a 2-4 record, a 6.05 ERA, and 75 strikeouts during this past season with the Double-A club.<\/p>\n<p>At just 22 years old, Sanchez still has plenty of time to improve and eventually cement himself as a major-league pitcher. He was off to a strong start this season before this trade to the Yankees, and he will now be looking to continue to impress with his new organization.<\/p>\n<p>As for Shewmake, he will now be looking to cement himself as a full-time <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/mlb\/\" title=\"MLB\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"230928\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MLB<\/a> player with the Astros. The 28-year-old infielder had zero home runs, one RBI, and two doubles in 10 games with Triple-A Scranton\/Wilkes-Barre this season before this trade.<\/p>\n<p>Shewmake played in 29 games last season for the <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/mlb\/chicago-white-sox\/\" title=\"Chicago White Sox\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"230925\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chicago White Sox<\/a>, where he had one home run, four RBIs, five stolen bases, and a .125 batting average. During the previous season, the 2019 first-round pick played in two games for the <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/mlb\/atlanta-braves\/\" title=\"Atlanta Braves\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"230927\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Atlanta Braves<\/a>, where he went 0-for-4 at the plate.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/author\/michaelderosa98\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Michael DeRosa<\/a> Michael covers the NHL for Heavy.com.
