The Baltimore Orioles<\/a> made a lot of additions in the past year, and one of the bigger ones was the signing of former New York Mets<\/a> infielder Pete Alonso.<\/p>\n

But, he’s off to a bit of a slow start this season in his new threads. The same cannot be said for a different ex-Mets infielder, Jeremiah Jackson. He’s breaking out in a big way.<\/p>\n

MLB.com’s Jake Rill<\/a> believes that this breakout is for real and that Orioles fans can watch with excitement this season as the former Mets infielder further cements himself as a quality MLB player.<\/p>\n

“He played fairly well during his first MLB stint over the final two months of last season. But this year, he has taken it to another level,” Rill writes. “… This is a breakout player worth watching moving forward.”<\/p>\n

Jackson is a 26-year-old infielder who is off to an incredibly hot start to the season in 2026. Through 64 at-bats, Jackson is hitting .297 with an .886 OPS.<\/p>\n

He has nine runs scored, 19 hits, two doubles, five home runs (including a grand slam), 17 RBIs, but surprisingly no walks compared to 18 strikeouts.<\/p>\n

While there is some concern about his walk-rate and strikeout numbers, if he continues to hit as well as he has, those figures won’t be much of an issue for the Orioles.<\/p>\n

In 48 games last season, Jackson hit .276 with a .775 OPS. It was a solid debut in the Majors, but he’s taken things to a new level this season, more than making up for the absence of Jordan Westburg and Jackson Holliday.<\/p>\n

Jackson’s breakout this season is a very interesting one, one that Rill sees as one that Orioles fans can actually believe in. Hopefully, Jackson keeps this up, as he’d become a key member of the Orioles infield and roster if that were to be the case.<\/p>\n
