The Philadelphia Phillies<\/a> are 8-13 and second-to-last in the National League East after getting swept by division rival, the Atlanta Braves<\/a>. Their record marks the franchise\u2019s worst start since 2015,<\/a> when the Phillies were en route to 99 losses.<\/p>\n

Their 4-2 loss on Sunday night extended the Phillies\u2019 losing-streak to five games and capped a 2-7 homestand. The Phillies hit the road for the following six games looking to face<\/p>\n

Kyle Schwarber\u2019s<\/a> two-run home run to kickoff the first inning created a silver of hope for the city of Philadelphia, but was quickly silenced as the Phillies failed to score another run the remaining of the game. Sunday\u2019s game marked the seventh time this season the Phillies scored in only one inning of a game.<\/a><\/p>\n

While the Phillies veteran scored the team\u2019s only runs, his performance at the plate has been subpar in 2026. Schwarber is batting .211 with 32 strikeouts in 88 plate appearances.<\/p>\n

After the Sunday\u2019s game, Schwarber made it clear about how things need to change\u2026<\/p>\n

After Phillies loss against the Braves, Kyle Schwarber<\/a> spoke to the media about the team\u2019s poor start to 2026:<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone in the dugout, everyone in the lockroom, we\u2019re all putting in the work,\u201d Schwarber said\u00a0via a tweet from Phillies beat writer Todd Zolecki. \u201cWe\u2019re all doing what we need to do. We all want to keep getting better. Results, chasing results, chasing hits, chasing all that, that\u2019s not the way to go about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kyle Schwarber, following the Phillies\u2019 2-7 homestand: \u201cEveryone in the dugout, everyone in the locker room, we\u2019re all putting in the work. We\u2019re all doing what we need to do. We all want to keep getting better. Results, chasing results, chasing hits, chasing all that, that\u2019s not<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like on a daily basis, seeing the guys in here and the way that they\u2019re working, it\u2019s inevitable,\u201d Schwarber said. \u201cIt\u2019s inevitable. At some point it\u2019s going to change.\u201d<\/p>\n

Schwarber is typically one of the Phillies biggest contributors on offense, the lefty slugger is nearing 200 home runs as a fighting Phil and is tied for third with seven home runs in 2026. However, he is struggling to produce base hits when it matters most.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo one wants to be in this position to start the year off,\u201d Schwarber said.<\/a> \u201cBut this team knows how to find its way out of holes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although aware of how deep the Phillies continue to dig their hole, Schwarber has hope that things will turn around.<\/p>\n

Philadelphia Phillies Struggles Not Specific To One Side Of The Field<\/p>\n

The Phillies are just 5-15 at [Citizen Bank Park]. Most home losses in baseball. The Phillies had the best home record in the majors the last two seasons.\u201d<\/p>\n

Through the first 21 games, the Phillies have had the third easiest schedule in the MLB<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Phillies rank 25th in walks (67) and 26th in hits (156).<\/a><\/p>\n

While offense is the most obvious struggle, their inconsistencies have struck the mound and on defense too. They rank 28th in ERA (4.88)<\/a> and 27th in fielding percentage.<\/p>\n
