<\/p>\nLove is in the air … or on the field. Former Texas Rangers catcher Austin Hedges proposed to his girlfriend, Lexi Dickson, after his game on Sunday, April 19.<\/p>\n
Hedges, who is now in his 12th major league season, plays for the Cleveland Guardians. Cleveland won the game 8-4 over the Baltimore Orioles and Hedges scored the first run of the game.<\/p>\n
According to The Associated Press, he proposed to Dickson after the last strikeout and she said yes.<\/p>\n
The 33-year-old catcher and his wife-to-be began dating in November 2024, according to The Associated Press. Many teammates were present for the proposal and stood at a distance to watch.<\/p>\n

Hedges told The Associated Press, “I\u2019ve had the ring since early spring training but was just trying to figure out when the right time was.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI was going to do it regardless,” he said, “but I really wanted to win that game to make it extra special.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hedges is a 2023 World Series champion with the Texas Rangers. <\/p>\n
\u201cI had a lot of nerves today and I\u2019m always nervous for baseball games, but just trying to stay present, knowing there were some activities after made it harder,” he told The Associated Press.<\/p>\n
“It was a special day. A special day to be able to soak it all in,\u201d Hedges said.<\/p>\n
According to The Associated Press, after the proposal, Hedges quickly changed into a suit for a night out.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow, we\u2019re going to go to dinner and then just have a night to ourselves and enjoy it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Love is in the air … or on the field.
