The first baseman snapped an 0-for-15 slump by going 3 for 5 with three runs.<\/p>\n<p>Paredes broke a 2-all tie with a leadoff homer to left field in the fourth that sparked a four-run inning. His first longball of the year came in his 76th plate appearance. Paredes, who homered at least 19 times in each of the last four seasons, added a solo shot in the eighth to close the scoring.<\/p>\n<p>BOSTON (AP) \u2014 Pinch-hitter Ceddanne Rafaela had a tiebreaking, two-run single in the seventh inning and the Red Sox beat the Detroit Tigers 8-6 on Monday in Boston\u2019s annual Patriots\u2019 Day game to salvage a split of their four-game series.<\/p>\n<p>Isiah Kiner-Falefa also had a two-run single for the Red Sox, who halted a two-game skid.<\/p>\n<p>The game coincided with the running of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/boston-marathon-5a1c7ad49573bf15475f3544490f79a9\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Boston Marathon.<\/a>\u00a0The Red Sox wore their special \u201cBoston\u201d home white jerseys, which debuted as a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/red-sox-patriots-day-jersey-3a8e3c9dcdf1b08d8a0ea424f1d98099\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">tribute to the city<\/a>\u00a0after the marathon bombings in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Garrett Whitlock (2-1), the sixth of eight Red Sox pitchers, worked a perfect inning for the victory. PETERSBURG, Fla.\u2014 Rookie Sal Stewart homered, doubled, stole a base and scored twice as Cincinnati beat Tampa Bay for their fourth straight win.<\/p>\n<p>Stewart put Cincinnati on the board with\u00a0a two-run homer\u00a0in the first inning, ending Jesse Scholtens\u2019 scoreless streak to start the season at 9 2\/3 innings.<\/p>\n<p>With his eighth homer, Stewart matched Munetaka Murakami of the Chicago White Sox for the lead among major league rookies and St. Louis\u2019 Jordan Walker for the National League lead. Stewart has the rookie lead in RBIs (21) and extra-base hits (13).<\/p>\n<p>The 23-year-old first baseman also snagged a line drive with the bases loaded for the final out.<\/p>\n<p>MIAMI \u2014 Agust\u00edn Ram\u00edrez homered and Max Meyer pitched effectively into the sixth inning to lead Miami to a victory over St. Louis, snapping the Cardinals\u2019 five-game winning streak.<\/p>\n<p>Meyer, who has battled injuries since being selected third overall in the 2020 amateur draft, left after 5 1\/3 innings and 91 pitches. He permitted two runs on three hits and two walks with eight strikeouts.<\/p>\n<p>Calvin Faucher (2-2) got the final two outs in the sixth. He allowed the tying run to score on a wild pitch but was credited with the win after Miami went back ahead in the bottom half.<\/p>\n<p>Pete Fairbanks gave up a leadoff triple to Masyn Winn and a sacrifice fly to Ram\u00f3n Ur\u00edas in the ninth before finishing for his fourth save in five opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>WASHINGTON \u2014 Matt Olson had three RBIs, Bryce Elder struck out six in 6 2\/3 innings and Atlanta won their sixth straight game with a victory over Washington.<\/p>\n<p>Drake Baldwin added two RBIs, and Ozzie Albies, Michael Harris II, Dominic Smith and Eli White each had an RBI for Atlanta.<\/p>\n<p>Ronald Acu\u00f1a Jr. was hit by a pitch in the fourth and sixth innings before\u00a0leaving in the bottom of the sixth. Olson added an RBI on a sacrifice fly in the ninth for a five-run lead.<\/p>\n<p>Atlanta broke it open with five runs in the sixth.<\/p>\n<p>CHICAGO \u2014 Colin Rea pitched into the seventh inning and Chicago beat Philadelphia for their sixth consecutive win.<\/p>\n<p>Dansby Swanson hit a three-run homer for Chicago, and Michael Conforto added a sacrifice fly.<\/p>\n<p>The Cubs have outscored their opponents 44-14 during the team\u2019s longest win streak since it also won six in a row from Aug. 26 to Sept. 1, 2024. They are tied with Atlanta for the majors\u2019 longest active win streak.<\/p>\n<p>The Phillies have dropped six in a row and seven of eight. They have been outscored 42-10 during their losing streak.<\/p>\n<p>Rea (3-0) permitted one run and six hits in 6 2\/3 innings, aided by a stellar defensive performance from his Cubs teammates.<\/p>\n<p>ORIOLES 7, ROYALS 5, 12 INNINGS<\/p>\n<p>KANSAS CITY, Kan. \u2014 Leody Taveras hit a grand slam during a five-run 12th inning, and Baltimore held on for a wild victory over the Royals, handing Kansas City its eighth straight loss.<\/p>\n<p>With the Orioles down to their last strike in the ninth inning, Samuel Basallo tied it at 1-all with Baltimore\u2019s second hit of the game, an RBI single that scored Dylan Beavers. Miguel Rojas launched his first of the season and got his 1,000th career hit with a single in the fourth inning.<\/p>\n<p>Wrobleski (3-0) allowed one run and eight hits across seven innings to help Los Angeles split the four-game series at Coors Field. Kurtz and Langeliers hit back-to-back shots in the sixth to chase starter Emerson Hancock with the score tied at 3.<\/p>\n<p>Max Muncy put the Athletics ahead 4-3 in the eighth on a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded and no outs.
