KANSAS CITY, Mo. \u2014 The Kansas City Royals announced that it is holding a special event Wednesday regarding the future of the team.<\/p>\n

At 10 a.m., Royals Chairman and CEO\u00a0John Sherman, Missouri Governor\u00a0Mike Kehoe\u00a0and Kansas City Mayor\u00a0Quinton Lucas\u00a0will provide an \u201cimportant update\u201d on the future of the Royals in Kansas City.<\/p>\n

Missouri could fund half of new Royals stadium, lawmaker says <\/a><\/p>\n

The team did not specify what exactly would be announced at the event, although the announcement comes less than a week after Kansas City leaders tentatively approved up to $600 million in funding for a Royals stadium in downtown Kansas City.<\/p>\n

The ballpark would likely go in Washington Square Park near Union Station and Crown Center.<\/p>\n
