FLINTON \u2014 The West Branch and Glendale softball teams squared off for the second day in a row Tuesday, but the rematch between the two Mo Valley League foes wasn\u2019t nearly as close as Monday\u2019s contest as the visiting Lady Warriors rolled to an 18-1, 5-inning victory.<\/p>\n
Monday\u2019s matchup between the two schools proved to be a close battle, with West Branch coming away with an 8-5 win on its home field.<\/p>\n
However, another close contest never materialized Tuesday, as West Branch grabbed control from the get-go with a four-run top of the first. The Lady Warriors proceeded to score in every inning, punctuating their lopsided win with a big eight-run fifth to invoke the mercy rule.<\/p>\n
Finley O\u2019hHare led the West Branch attack, going 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and four runs scored. Teammate Shasta Manahan was 2-for-4 with two RBI, while Elaina Sabol and Gracie Eyerly each added a hit and two RBIs.<\/p>\n
All that offense proved to be more than enough for Bella Nelson, who tossed a three-hitter. She allowed one run (earned), while striking out nine and walking none.<\/p>\n
Glendale scored its lone run on a Hannah Simmers groundout in the bottom of the fourth. Emma Gilbey had a double for the Lady Vikings, while Elizabeth Kaufman and Madison Ball each had singles.<\/p>\n
Both teams are right back in action today.<\/p>\n
West Branch (7-5) plays at Tyrone today, while Glendale (3-7) hosts Bellwood-Antis.<\/p>\n
