{"id":681292,"date":"2026-04-22T20:24:28","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T20:24:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/681292\/"},"modified":"2026-04-22T20:24:28","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T20:24:28","slug":"city-of-keller-texas-rangers-announce-partnership-at-keller-sports-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/681292\/","title":{"rendered":"City of Keller, Texas Rangers announce partnership at Keller Sports Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityofkeller.com\/services\/parks-recreation\/parks-and-trails\/keller-parks-and-open-space\/keller-sports-park\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Keller Sports Park<\/a>, which underwent a $48 million renovation over the past two years, will have 11 fields named after former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/rangers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Texas Rangers<\/a> players.<\/p>\n<p>The city <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityofkeller.com\/Home\/Components\/News\/News\/9080\/#:~:text=Post%20Date:04\/15\/,transformative%2C%20approximately%20$48%20million%20renovation.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">announced<\/a> a licensing agreement partnership with the baseball team that will provide Rangers branding, lettering and numbers on flagpole banners, field numbers and signage for the multipurpose fields.<\/p>\n<p>A ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening celebration for the Keller Sports Park will run from 9 a.m.-noon April 25 and one attendee will win four tickets to see the Texas Rangers play, according to a news release.<\/p>\n<p>The background<\/p>\n<p>The Keller and Texas Rangers connection started in Fort Worth, near Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.<\/p>\n<p>Rob Matwick, executive vice president of public affairs for the Texas Rangers, said he was speaking at the American Airlines Headquarters in Fort Worth and Keller City Manager Aaron Rector was in the audience for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leadershipnorthtexas.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Leadership North Texas<\/a> event.<\/p>\n<p>Rector invited Matwick to tour Keller Sports Park, located at 265 Golden Triangle Blvd., during renovations happening last fall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just drove out one morning and took a look and saw what was going on with the complex here &#8230; it was unbelievable,\u201d Matwick said. \u201cIt\u2019s just not baseball and softball fields, but you got equestrian, soccer, football, just about everything. &#8230; [Rector] started talking to me about the commitment the city was making, not only on the initial investment, but also the mechanisms are in place to make sure they maintain the quality over time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Matwick had conversations with his co-workers and then talked to former players about using their image and likeness at the park.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt took a little bit of time to work through all the details, but in the end, I think what they produced is outstanding,\u201d he said of the partnership.<\/p>\n<p>A closer look<\/p>\n<p>Baseball and softball fields within the park will be named in honor of Texas Rangers Hall of Famers, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/rangers\/history\/national-baseball-hall-of-fame-players\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">four<\/a> players in the National Baseball Hall of Fame: Adrian Beltr\u00e9, Nolan Ryan, Ferguson &#8220;Fergie&#8221; Jenkins and Iv\u00e1n \u201cPudge\u201d Rodriguez.<\/p>\n<p>The field in order, starting with the first field, will be named after:<\/p>\n<p>Nolan RyanIv\u00e1n &#8220;Pudge&#8221; Rodr\u00edguezAdrian Beltr\u00e9Michael YoungJuan GonzalezJosh HamiltonRusty GreerKenny RogersFerguson \u201cFergie\u201d JenkinsCharlie HoughIan KinslerMatwick said the connection to baseball and Keller is strong. Former outfielder Adolis Garcia lived in Keller and so did former manager Jeff Banister.<\/p>\n<p>Matwick also pointed out that current Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Max Muncy and Oakland Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers are from Keller.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKeller [High School] has produced some great baseball players and they\u2019re a really solid program,\u201d he said, \u201cHopefully, this contributes to more young people playing baseball and softball, in addition to the other sports.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What they\u2019re saying<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Keller Sports Park renovation is a reflection of who we are as a community: focused on excellence, invested in our families and dedicated to creating opportunities for the next generation,\u201d Keller Mayor Armin Mizani said. \u201cThis partnership with the Texas Rangers elevates an already exceptional facility and gives our young athletes the chance to play in an environment inspired by some of the game\u2019s greatest players.
