New York Yankees star sluggers Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton sound open to the possibility of adding an alternate navy blue road uniform.<\/p>\n
“I think we’ll always wear the pinstripes at home. I don’t think that’ll change. We’ve changed our road jersey other years. So I guess if we wear the blues, we’ll wear the blues on the road,” Judge told reporters<\/a> on Wednesday.<\/p>\n Stanton called<\/a> the Yankees’ current gray road uniforms “iconic” but added that “a lot of people would be ok with” adding an alternate combination.<\/p>\n Brendan Kuty<\/a>\u00a0of The Athletic\u00a0reported<\/a>\u00a0Wednesday that Yankees players “recently pitched higher-ups” on wearing their navy jerseys during road games. The navy jerseys are typically used for batting practice and spring training games. Multiple players told Kuty that “they were hopeful they would get to wear the alternate jerseys soon, though they weren’t sure whether it would happen.”<\/p>\n While slight alterations to their team uniforms have been made over the years, the Yankees have never added an alternate jersey in the franchise’s history. They also never added a City Connect jersey, joining the Athletics as the only\u00a0two franchises<\/a>\u00a0without one.<\/p>\n Kuty noted that the final decision as to whether to bring the navy blue jerseys into regular-season games will likely be up to Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner, who has previously been\u00a0resistant<\/a>\u00a0to making major changes.<\/p>\n
