<\/p>\n MEDFORD, MA (April 22, 2026) \u2013 The No. 24 Tufts University baseball team took down Roger Williams, 5-3, in a non-conference clash at Sol Gittleman Park this afternoon in overcast conditions to improve to 15-2 at home.

\nFor the Jumbos (22-8, 6-3 NESCAC), Mark Herlihy<\/a> took the hill as the starting arm for his sixth start of the spring on a bullpen day and earned his third win of the spring. The junior was dominant in two complete innings of work, striking out three of the first four batters and conceding just one hit during his time on the mound.

\nThe Jumbos struck first in the bottom of the opening frame to take a 1-0 advantage. James Henshon<\/a> led off with a double to right center field and advanced to third on a failed pickoff attempt from the Hawks’ pitcher. Jack Kamin<\/a> picked up his team-leading 29th RBI of the season with an RBI ground out to the shortstop to bring home Henshon.

\nMichael O’Brien<\/a> replaced Herlihy in the top of third and delivered two more complete scoreless innings with two strikeouts and one hit allowed to keep Tufts on top.

\nTate Bannish<\/a> doubled the Jumbo lead in the bottom half of the third inning to give Tufts a 2-0 lead. Jesse McCullough<\/a> started off the frame with a single to center field, but failed to advance after Henshon reached first on a fielder’s choice. Henshon then stole second before Bannish brought him home with a two base knock to left field.

\nThe Jumbos added another run to the board in the following inning to stretch the lead to three. With two outs recorded, AJ Seidel<\/a> walked and stole second base before Caden Abraham<\/a> singled through the right side of the infield to score Seidel from the middle bag.

\nLachlan Ellis<\/a> relieved O’Brien in the top of the fifth and Roger Williams took advantage of a few mishaps to cut their deficit to two. Ellis recorded four strikeouts in the inning, but two of those made it to first base on wild pitches. Nick Dimaso drove a sacrifice fly ball to right field to score Jack Tubman for the tally.

\nBannish captured his second and third RBIs of the game in the bottom of the fifth to put the Jumbos ahead by four. Kamin extended his hit streak to 15 games with a single to lead off the frame and stole second. Bannish then blasted his team-leading fifth home run of his standout debut season to deep left field to make it a 5-1 game.

\nRoger Williams made it interesting in the top of the seventh by scoring two runs to cut the lead back down to two. Tubman singled to open the frame and advanced to second after a Sam Arcieri single up the middle. Luke Miele loaded the bases with a hard ground ball single to Henshon. Noah Hester brought Tubman and Arcieri home with the Hawks third straight single.

\nThe Hawks nearly made it a one run game, but Bannish flashed his strong defensive arm and ended the inning by throwing out Miele at the plate from left field.

\nJack McLaughlin<\/a> and Derek Desmarais<\/a> threw the final two frames of the game and produced three strikeouts, while keeping Roger Williams scoreless and hitless as Desmarais notched his conference-leading sixth save of the season.

\nThe Jumbos are back home on Friday for an important NESCAC matchup against Trinity (Conn.) at 3 PM.<\/p>\n
