Bryce Riggs<\/a> was named a\u00a0semifinalist\u00a0for the National Pitcher of the Year\u00a0Award,\u00a0the College\u00a0Baseball Foundation announced today.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\nA total of 43 pitchers were selected as a\u00a0semifinalist for\u00a0the National Pitcher of the Year award. The\u00a0semifinalists\u00a0come from 17 different conferences and one independent program.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
There are some familiar names on the semifinalists list, including Texas’ sophomore Dylan Volantis,\u00a0who was a National Pitcher of the Year finalist last year. Five other semifinalists have already won National Pitcher of the Week honors in 2026, including Jackson Flora (UC Santa Barbara), Chris Olivier (Lamar), Logan\u00a0Reddemann\u00a0(UCLA), Max\u00a0Vaisvila\u00a0(Northern Illinois),\u00a0and Dax Whitney (Oregon State).\u00a0<\/p>\n
Riggs has been\u00a0dominant both in the OVC and across the NCAA. In 62.0 innings of work, he holds a\u00a06-1 record with a\u00a02.61\u00a0ERA. He also has recorded 60 strikeouts and\u00a0has only given up 19 walks.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
In the OVC, Riggs ranks 1st\u00a0in opposing batting average at .158, 1st\u00a0in strikeouts with 60, third in wins with 6,\u00a0and 2nd\u00a0in both runs allowed (18) and hits allowed (34).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Riggs ranks 1st\u00a0in the NCAA in hits allowed per nine innings at 3.86 and 1st\u00a0in WHIP at 0.72. He also ranks 4th\u00a0in complete games with\u00a0two on the season.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
