The Pittsburgh Pirates<\/a> recalled right-handed pitcher Cam Sanders<\/a> from Triple-A Indianapolis and placed right-hander Braxton Ashcraft<\/a> on the Major League Bereavement\/Family Medical Emergency List.<\/p>\n

Sanders was recalled by the Pirates last Friday and allowed four runs on three hits and one walk with two strikeouts in two-thirds of an inning against the Tampa Bay Rays<\/a> on April 18. He was optioned back to Indianapolis the following day.<\/p>\n

In eight appearances with Indianapolis on the season, Sanders has a 2.25 ERA (2er\/8.0ip) with eight walks and 15 strikeouts.<\/p>\n

Ashcraft has made five starts for the Pirates this season and is 1-1 with a 2.43 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 29.2 innings. Opponents are hitting just .202 with a .559 OPS against him.<\/p>\n

By being placed on the Bereavement\/Family Medical Emergency List, Ashcraft will miss a minimum of three games and a maximum of seven. He had been scheduled to start for the Pirates when they return to PNC Park on Monday night to face the St. Louis Cardinals<\/a>.<\/p>\n
