<\/p>\n GREENVILLE, N.C. (April 25, 2026)\u00a0\u2013 University of South Florida baseball lost the first game of a doubleheader to ECU. The Bulls (28-14, 7-10 American) fell to the Pirates (27-16-1, 11-6 American), 12-4, and are down 6-2 in the second game, which will resume tomorrow, Sunday, April 26th at 12:00 p.m.

\nECU took the first game of the day, 12-4. Bradke Lohry<\/a> had two hits for doubles and two runs. Matt Rose<\/a> had two hits and two RBIs. Jevin Relaford<\/a> went four for five, and Lane Trippel three for five. Trippel extended his reach base streak to 25 games.
\n\u00a0
\nKaden Smith<\/a> started on the mound for the Bulls and received the loss. He is now 4-2 on the season. He threw 2.2 innings, recording two strikeouts while giving up two walks, six hits, and seven runs, just two of them earned. Dominic Pontbriant<\/a>, Brisen Tweedy<\/a>, and Will Allen<\/a> all made appearances for the Bulls.

\nJackson Mirza<\/a> hit his first collegiate triple in the second game of the day and earned an RBI with it. He would then score on a sacrifice fly, hit by Santiago Carriles<\/a>, as the Bulls continue to lead the nation in sacrifice flies.

\nWith rain stopping play in the third inning, the Pirates lead the Bulls 6-2 in Game 3 of the series. The game will resume tomorrow, April 26th, at 12:00 p.m.

Head coach Mitch Hannahs<\/a> returns for his second year at the helm after leading the Bulls to 32 wins in his debut season\u2014the program’s highest win total since 2018. USF also posted 16 victories in American Athletic Conference play, marking its best conference showing since joining the league.

\nHannahs, a 2023 ABCA NCAA Division I Midwest Region Coach of the Year, was named USF’s eighth head coach on June 8, 2024, after an 11-year run at Indiana State where he tallied 355 wins, six conference titles, and five NCAA Regional appearances.

\nUSF has made 14 NCAA Tournament appearances, including a historic Super Regional berth in 2021. The Bulls have captured five conference tournament titles (three Sun Belt, one Metro, one American) and six regular season championships (three Sun Belt, two Metro, one C-USA).

\nThe program continues to develop top-tier talent with 134 MLB Draft picks all-time, including three selections in 2025. Notable alumni include two-time MLB All-Star and 2018 first-round draft pick Shane McClanahan. Bulls have earned All-America honors 12 times and Freshman All-America recognition 19 times.
