During this weekend’s Tigers-Reds series in Cincinnati<\/a>, a Home Run Derby has broken out.<\/p>\n

Through two games at Great American Ball Park \u2014 both wins by the Reds<\/a>, 9-8 on Friday<\/a> and 9-2 on Saturday<\/a> \u2014 the teams have combined for 14 home runs. That’s already the most in a three-game series in Major League Baseball this season, and there’s still one game to go in Cincy, Sunday afternoon’s series finale.<\/p>\n

Ten players have combined for the home-run haul. Three players have hit more than one, including red-hot Tiger Spencer Torkelson<\/a>. The Reds have hit eight of the homers, and the Tigers<\/a> have hit six.<\/p>\n

Great American Ball Park is traditionally one of the most homer-friendly stadiums in MLB.<\/p>\n

Detroit<\/a>‘s Riley Greene<\/a> got the home-run party started Friday night:<\/p>\n

Then it was Detroit’s Javier B\u00e1ez<\/a>‘s turn, on 3-0 no less:<\/p>\n

Cincinnati’s Matt McLain<\/a> then got in on the fun, with his first homer of the year:<\/p>\n

Enter Cincinnati’s Nathaniel Lowe<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Then it was McLain, again:<\/p>\n

Detroit’s Spencer Torkelson stayed hot:<\/p>\n

Detroit’s Kerry Carpenter<\/a> put his team ahead (for a moment):<\/p>\n

Then it Lowe, again, with the walk-off winner:<\/p>\n

Detroit’s Kevin McGonigle got things going from jump Saturday, with his second career homer:<\/p>\n

Cincinnati’s Sal Stewart<\/a>, like McGonigle a rookie-of-the-year candidate, answered right back:<\/p>\n

Then it was Lowe, again:<\/p>\n

Cincinnati’s Elly De La Cruz<\/a>, naturally, didn’t want to be left out:<\/p>\n

Torkelson, for the fourth straight game:<\/p>\n

And No. 14 was delivered by Cincinnati’s TJ Friedl<\/a>:<\/p>\n

The Tigers-Reds series concludes Sunday, with first pitch set for 1:40 p.m. Right-hander Keider Montero<\/a> (1-2, 3.68) starts for the Tigers, and right-hander Rhett Lowder<\/a> (3-1, 3.10) starts for the Reds. Montero hasn’t allowed a homer this season, and Lowder has given up one home run.<\/p>\n
