On Saturday, the Boston Red Sox<\/a> beat the Baltimore Orioles<\/a> by a score of 17-1 in Maryland.<\/p>\n

Despite their massive win, the team announced<\/a> that they had fired manager Alex Cora after part of eight seasons at the helm.<\/p>\n

Aaron Boone Reacts To Alex Cora News<\/p>\n

After the New York Yankees<\/a> beat the Houston Astros<\/a> by a score of 8-3, manager Aaron Boone was asked about Cora.<\/p>\n

Boone (h\/t YES Network<\/a>): \u201cI don\u2019t know many details\u2026 Very shocked\u2026 I have a feeling he\u2019ll do whatever he wants. He\u2019s a great manager. Smart, talented person, that I\u2019m sure will have a lot of opportunities available to him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Boone and Cora had many matchups over the last eight seasons.<\/p>\n

Last year, Boone and the Yankees beat Cora and the Red Sox in the Wild Card round of the 2025 MLB<\/a> playoffs.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, the Yankees also swept the Red Sox at Fenway Park.<\/p>\n

The Red Sox got off to a very slow start to the season under Cora.<\/p>\n

They are at the bottom of the American League East with a 10-17 record in 27 games.<\/p>\n

On the road, the Red Sox are 5-9 in 14 games away from Fenway Park.<\/p>\n

Bill Koch of Providence Journal wrote:<\/a> \u201cAlex Cora finishes with a 620-541 record in Boston. Three playoff appearances, an ALCS appearance and a World Series title in seven full seasons with the Red Sox. In making this move, John Henry has essentially given full franchise power to chief baseball officer Craig Breslow.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following their series with the Orioles, the Red Sox will head to Canada to play the Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> on Monday.<\/p>\n
